Imperial Firespray Aces Pack?

By zingerwhip, in X-Wing

I really like where the Imperial Firespray is at currently. Sure, the new Scum Firesprays are better in many ways, but that ship is basically the poster child for the Scum and Villainy faction. After all the faction symbol comes from the shoulder patch on the faction's most notorious pilot -- the best pilot of the Firespray, Boba Fett (I'm using PS as a measure of "best").

But even though the Scum version has more options, the Imperial one isn't bad. The best part about the Imperial Firespray, in my opinion, is the Bounty Hunter. PS 3 and 6 hull/4shields for 33 points? That doesn't seem awful. It's the most points-efficient way to get the Firespray into any squad. To me, it seems fitting that the Imperial Navy is the faction that can get these lowlife, generic bounty hunters for the cheapest price. I wouldn't want to see them removed from the Empire, but I don't really see the need to buff them, either.

Yup, historical business decision on part of FFG. We can salvage the fluff:

It's not an Imperial ship, and they're not Imperial pilots. The Imperial version of the Firespray represents bounty hunters while they are working under Imperial contracts, against both Rebels and Scum.

And why are they weaker in Imperial than Scum? Red tape. "I want them alive: no disintegrations".

This ^^^

I really don't think it needs an Aces pack.

The TIE Defender and TIE Bomber do need an Aces pack though and I would very much enjoy giving FFG my money to purchase such a pack.

Fett will take IMP contracts

So will Dengar, IG88, Bossk, etc. Doesn't mean they should be part of the Imperial faction.

Fett and his ship belong in the imp fleet just as much as he does in the sv if not more, because of his tendencys to take imp contracts over other factions.

Why do I want or need 7...? In the words of the Thomas Jane Punisher from the 2005 game. "For making a good first impression," or, "for when i really want to hurt someone."

Sign me up as well. The Defender is my favorite ship, it pains me how bad it is.

Cutting off my comment doesnt help your argument. The bounty hunters you mentioned have never been shown requesting exclusive contracts with the empire. Biggest point though, the one you cut off, is that he will take imp contracts that put him in a conflict of interest with the Bounty Hunters guild. They had him destroy or nearly d3stroy the bounty hunters guild. All the other bounty hunters have a code they will follow when dealing with eachother. Fett is fare game since he attacked all of them, via attack on the guild. No other real bounty hunter has done that or would, especially Bossk since he could have been the leader of the guild.

Fett and his ship belong in the imp fleet just as much as he does in the sv if not more, because of his tendencys to take imp contracts over other factions.

That's because he doesn't care, and is confident nobody can hurt him. Might have even been to get back at his rivals. It's not because he's a patriot.

Actully he could be a "patriot" to some degree since he wont take Rebel contracts, the other bounty hunters have, and he is known as "Vaders right hand man" for a reason.

Making the upgrade Firespray-only would fix that problem though.

Or you can just fly the Imperial ships.

I would like to see an Imperial update for the Firespray. Of all the large base ships it is the least used. The scum variant is awesome, but a repainted model, and some Imp pilots would be fun. Plus for its points and capablities, it fits so nicely in between the Lambda and the Decimator. Thoughts? What pilots and abilities would we like to see?

Don't hold your breath waiting for this to ever happen.

The Firespray IS a SCUM ship. The only reason it was done as a fake-IMP was that it needed to fight The Falcon... way back when this was a smaller game.

except it's an Imperial ship...and is first...no matter what size the game was or will be... it IS an Imperial ship. No one would argue that the z-95 and Ywing are Scum only and their rebel counterparts shouldn't get updates.

It's funny that people clamor for fixes for underplayed ships, claiming that everything should be able to compete. Except when it comes to the Imperial Firespray, that ship can rot in a dark dank dungeon as far as they're concerned.

It is an imperial ship, wether you like it or not. It deserves to be played.

It's got Imperial cards that are only the result of pragmatism. There's no need for a fix for something that should've never happened. They still see tables occasionally and they're not utter garbage. If they're out of focus now and forever we haven't really lost anything to be excited about.

Also, no it is not an Imperial ship. It is a collection of cards that needed to go somewhere (just like First Order) and ended up with the black and grey backing. Boba and Kath are home now where they belong

Wether or not they ever should've been imperial is beside the point, they are.

Either make them playable again, or give the Empire a third large base.

the best help the imp firespray could get and something the devs should really consider is some kind of imp only crew or modification that would work with most everything imp but be well suited for the firespray.

That's why I suggested an upgrade adding [illicit] slot to the upgrade bar. A second illicit upgrade on a Scum Firespray might not be as useful as a single one on the Imperial version.

You know what would be cool: An upgrade pack for the Empire with new (and even it it's just the names of the mercenaries they change) pilots:

- System Police Pilot

- Kuat Security Pilot

- ISB-Agent

- ISB-Enforcer
