Vader crew question

By Sixmilliote, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Quick question, If vader is equiped on a shielded deci or shuttle and shoots a shielded target, the ship he is on loses shields before hull, as does the ship he attacks, correct?

Thanks

Yes.

Most damaging effects, including Vader, tell you to "suffer... damage", in which case you take the damage the same way you normally would: shields first, then damage cards.

The rare effects that bypass shields, like Advanced Homing Missiles, tell you to "deal a [possibly face-up] damage card" instead.

Thanks guys.

What other options do Imperials have for dealing direct damage and bypassing shields? trying to build a squad around it...

while not bypassing shield, they can forgo attacking a slippery taget by having Ruthlessness. Assuming Range 1 of target, and the attack hits.
