Incoming Canadian Prime Minister Dresses as Han Solo for Halloween

That would seem the practical choice to wear, the Hoth outfits.

That guy is awesome. Congratulations Canada.

I live some place where we usually have snow on the ground for Halloween (but thanks to climate change, not so much, lately).

So I would go to school in a Stormtrooper costume (because it was relatively warm out) and then go trick-or-treating in a rebel Hoth trooper costume (just add parka!) because it would be too cold to run around in the white sweats that was my Stormtrooper "armor".

Someone slap the kid he's ruined the theme, could he not find a yoda costume?

More importantly he's not a climate denier.

But this is good too!

Is it very Canadian to choose a character who shoots first and asks no questions?

No it's Canadian to admire Americans... I mean that guy.

Interesting that an American thinks this, when the majority of Canadians will answer the question of "What does it mean to be Canadian," by saying "We're not American."

Here is the rest of it:

Outgoing Prime Minister Stephen Harper:

That came from here - http://www.forgetthebox.net/niqabs-terrorists-fear-how-harper-plans-to-win-the-election-201509281/

And the "no longer" Opposition Leader - Thomas Mulcair:

He really did dress up like that!!

And finally there is only one choice for Elizabeth May, the leader of the Green Party -

Now I wanna watch a SW Rebels and TMNT mashup!

Darth Shredder anyone?

I don't think it's very Canadian (given his party at least) to choose a character who carries a gun.

Meh, so he dressed up as Han Solo. I much rather would have gone trick or treating with Ryan Reynolds this year....

Was this part of the Netflix deal?

Despite what some people think Canada has a pretty high guns per capita amongst the world, obviously not as high as the US (no-one does, they're number 1!) but I believe last I saw it was in the top 15. As a country with lots of hunters this makes sense. We just tend not to shoot each other with our guns nearly as much.

Also take into consideration that the Canadian military has a habit (during major wars) of being on the sharp end of the toughest assignments.

Adjusting for population we actually have an insane number of guns. I myself own eleven, and I don't even have a career (a job, yes, but not a high paying one). We just have a very low gun crime rate, and guns never quite turned into the heated issue they are in the States. Last time I remember a big gun control debate was the long gun registry, which I believe was created in response to one of the few mass shootings we ever had. It was casually thrown out when Harper won and Mulcair became opposition leader, since the Conservatives and NDP both felt it was a waste of taxpayer money.
