If you dont have the time for a full game

Its getting late where I am and your all probably going to tell me to go to bed but I was thinking this today and wonder what others might think about it

say you don't have time for a full game but want to move some ships around on a board and have a bit of fun. why not play a game with only one ship fully kitted out with all the upgrades the ship can take an Admiral and squadrons equal to the ships squadron value. 1 rule could be you could only play against ships of the same size to keep it even. Destroying your opponent would be the mission but you could use the missions if you wanted to or make up your own

so does this idea spark anyone's interest or should I go to bed?

Go to bed....haha.

But I do like the idea

Its a good way to teach people how to play

Well, what do you consider "too long" for a game?

I was asking a long time ago whether this game might actually be really balanced and fun at small point costs: 100, 150, 180, 200. And under 180 commanders optional.

Playing a game of 2CR vs ... anything really should be kinda fun. Well. vs a VSD, that poor thing is just gonna be sad getting flown around in circles. But if he takes a VSD and 3 bombers. Could be fun spamming squadrons and turning to try and blast Crs.

1AF vs 1VSD. Heck, that sounds fun!

no amount of time is to long for a game for me but if I only have an hour before I have to pick kids up from school or the wife has said be home by a specific time and its not enough time to play a full game and I have a itch that need scratching this could be a good way to do it

I've been considering 200 point 3x3 games for smaller skirmishes.

150 - 200 points on, no more than one of each ship per side is fast and fun :-)

I work until midnight or later, no time is "too late" in my book if it's not interfering with your normal schedule.

I might suggest a slight modification: 180 point game, 120 maximum in ships+upgrades, medium or smaller only. Translates to no more than 2 ships per side and fills the remainder with up to 60pts in squadrons. Commander optional.
