Feedback on a Campaign Idea

By Meribson, in Game Masters

The basic idea of the campaign is that the PCs end up being shanghai'd (why depends on the game line: EotE they are hired, AoR they are assigned, and in F&D they are kidnapped) into trying to prevent a third faction from entering into the Civil War between the Rebels and the Empire. This third faction is led by a droid and cyborg duo, with the droid seeking to become Force-Sensitive by taking the "scraps" from Force-Sensitive meatbags. The cyborg is made using the repaired chassis of General Grevious and the brain of the now completely mad ex-Chancellor Valorum. Yes I'm taking that from the Darths & Droids webcomic so what?

The two of them are building an army of droids and Grevious-eske cyborgs with the goal of "uplifting" the rest of the galaxy into being like one of the two of them. Droids would be turned into Force-Sensitives through the addition of organic "parts" and meatbags-I mean organics-would be turned into cyborgs. Of course given how they have yet to figure out how to turn a droid into a Force-Sensitive currently they simply transplant organic brains into droid chassis.

Depending on how the campaign plays out, this Droidworks faction may or may not become a major player on the galactic stage. If the PCs screw up badly enough they could potentially take down the Rebellion or the Empire or even both depending on how things go.

So long as the PCs don't figure out the location of the droid's memory backups (saved weekly) I'm planning on the final battle being a show down between the PCs versus Valorum and the now-Force-Sensitive droid.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Criticisms? Declarations of my insanity in having a droid become Force-Sensitive?

Given the Rebellion is on the run and hiding it might be tough to find them to even engage them, and invariably anything done to them only aids the Empire.

Maybe consider it's a sort of shadow war being waged between them and former Padawans/Emergents/Exiles that have come together to oppose them., all going on behind the scenes in the Civil War with both the Empire and Rebellion wondering who they hell both sides are.

I think force dorids would be cool they would be unstoppable as an army of grevois ;) if grevois can be jedi why cants droids?? ^_^

Grievous wasn't neither a jedi nor a droid. :)

Wasn't there a comic or novel in the EU that dealt with experiments of transferring midi-chlorians from one living being to another? There have purportedly even been Sith artifacts capable of "draining" the Force from people/worlds/, so if you're after some kind of science hook to justify turning droids force sensitive, that could be your angle. Then again, droids harvesting "biomass" is a pretty reliable hook (if grim).

I think also the droid senseitive things is little bit far out. I would go for another inteligent race that want to study the brains of force users and incorporate this into their own species to dominate space. Making all of their species super soldiers as everyone become force sensitive.

They will kidnap any force sensitive person they can find and take them to their secret labs.

They may be higly inteligent and agressive and work in the background trying to let the Rebels and Empire wipe each other out for then to take over as the dominent race.

I think the party should start the game working for this new faction. Maybe they are delivering an order of cadavers to a "research facility".

Perhaps Vellorum-bot convinces the group that he was betrayed by an evil Sith Lord, who he believes is Palpatine. He proves to them he's fighting for justice or revenge, all the while eyeing their meatbags...
