Wave 8 is finally "at the printer"!

By ramy, in X-Wing

the biggest day in Star Wars history

ESB original theatrical version isn't being re-released in December.

While the ESB original was huge, I wouldn't discount the possibility that the debut of the new trilogy smashes more than a few records.

In fact, I'll be legitimately dumbfounded if it isn't the single biggest opening weekend ever, even adjusted for inflation.

With that said, the debut of ESB is truly what forever cemented Star Wars into popular culture. ANH was already a phenomenon, and yet Empire somehow took that to another level. Even if (hopefully a likely if) TFA is a smash success and causes a resurgence in the franchise we haven't seen since ever, nothing will take away from what ESB accomplished. But if Force Awakens can bring us back up from the doldrums of the prequel trilogy (even if I personally still enjoy AotC and RotS), that'll be fine in my book.

I for one welcome our new printer overlords..

Sorry didn't have anything valuable to add except how excited I am about this.

I declare myself High Priest of the Great Print Que! I will watch, day and night, until the Print Gods give birth to the much prophesied 8th Wave and send it to us, their loyal worshippers, by way of the fabled Boat. You the loyal worshippers must keep me fed during this time, and ye I will be brought sausage rolls, Doritos and all manner of game night stacks. And let it be said that some blessed individual should say "stick the kettle on, he's flagging, get him a nice cuppa!"

Until that time good people you must show The Great Print Gods that we are truly worthy of the next wave by setting the holy dials, moving the blessed vessels by way of the green straight five and the hard one. And verily you shall roll the octahedrons of fate, and pray to the red and the green. And upon the righteous runes of the hit and the crit thou shall make the holy chants of pew-pew!

Prepare yourself friends for the 8th coming of the gods is nearly upon us!

At work, we have a 50 push up bet going - one side bet that The Avengers: Age of Ultron, would gross more money opening weekend than Star Wars - My side, bet on Star Wars. So far it's looking good. (This bet was made before Age of Ultron came out).

At most two weeks unless FFG gave out wrong information during the biggest trade fair in the business.

They were quite clear about it at Gencon. He said they hoped to have it out yet this year, but that may not happen so it may be early 2016.

So anytime between now and Feb/March 2016 would be accurate for what was said.

Man, there are so many butt hurt fanboys over Age of Ultron not being the biggest movie of the year. Beaten by the "sub par" Furious 7 and Jurassic World.

Just curious, is that like a group of people who have to do a combined 50 push ups? Or each person has to do 50 over a couple days?

Because when I was 18 and in US Army basic training I could do 50 pushups...

When a movie's worse than Fast and Furious that really says something.

50 per person. - We are all Prior Military at work, but most of these guys don't keep in shape. I can do 50 push ups too, but I'll feel bad if my boss has to do them. He's old now. I'm thinking he'll break them up into smaller groups to make it an aggregate 50, spread out over a week or two lol!

Box office isn't generally an indication of quality.

Yeah I mean look how well the Twighlight movies did! Anyone who thinks emo sparkly vampires are cool deserves a red hot lightsaber shoved somewhere uncomfortable.

Well they still have this little gem at the bottom of the Wave 8 Preview Article:

The starship expansions of X-Wing Wave VIII are scheduled to arrive at retailers in the fourth quarter of 2015!

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/7/31/xwing-out-of-hiding/

so I'm still calling late as of January the 1st!

Everything FFG releases ends up late. You take whatever FFG's estimate is and you add two months to get the real release. That would be February in Wave 8's case.

As I said, at Essen, the biggest fair, the Ghost was not yet approved.

It wasn't as good as the original Avengers film, but Age of Ultron was still solid good fun (as was Jurassic World... but dinosaur nerd here).

Also, 50 push up challenge? How out of shape are you guys?

This means Valen Rudor has an ability finally! Which means now FFG can tell us what it is and I can start building squads around him accordingly.

Well, if we go by what we've seen in the shorts and episodes of Rebels I came up with the following:

At the start of the game, roll 1 attack die:

Blank: Knocked out in a melee by Garazeb Orrelios and ship is destroyed by Stormtroopers. Opponent scores points for the kill.

Focus: Fighter blown up at Empire Day celebration by Kanan Jarrus. Opponent scores points for the kill.

Hit: Knocked out by Ezra Bridger after fighter is shot down by the Ghost on the way to the game. Opponent scores points for the kill.

Critical: Fighter captured by Garazeb Orrelios. Add fighter to opponent's list using Zeb's pilot skill and ability (if any).

:D

If you had only scrolled down like 5 posts it's explained.
