X-wing youtube channel ideas

By EbongHawk, in X-Wing

Hey just another "There is nothing new to talk about" post but I am playing around with the idea of starting an X-wing oriented youtube channel. My focus would be very limited in regards to intro or tutorial and would be shifted more towards a discussion of meta, lists, news, why things work and why they don't, and I'd like to start breaking down portions of individual matches. Honestly though it is kind of daunting to decide where to start and I would love to hear what you guys would like to have discussed so I have a jumping off point. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

More X-wing is never a bad thing. I would suggest erring on the side of quality over quantity.

I wish I had time for a project like that. Sounds fun. Skip topics like 'unboxing'. Overdone, and not necessary really. Whip a quick one with Worlds predictions. Breakdown the top lists currently, and suggest a few non-meta solutions (preferably with battle reports against said lists).

start breaking down portions of individual matches.

This bit sounds especially interesting. Jump into the middle of a match in progress, give a quick rundown of the how and why of where we are, then say what you think the moves should be before showing the moves and invite discussion on the outcomes or why your predictions would've been better/worse. Give supported opinions without being overly critical of the players we're watching. I'd play along with videos like that.

I would probably watch it. My problem with most YouTube stuff is because it's either an hour long or just about stuff we all already new about the most recent release.

Make one series per match. Do short-ish videos, say, 10-15 minutes. Spend an episode or two on each list, breaking down the ships and their upgrades, as well as the underlying philosophy or goal of the list with the planned opening setup. Once you have both sides done, do several episodes with highlights from the match, looking at key maneuvers, ability choices, and shots. Finally, end it all with a wrap-up espisode analyzing how well the lists performed relative to their intended behavoirs.

Sure, it'd be a lot of work, but you can get a lot of content out of even one match, and it's the kind of thing that many players would benefit from seeing.

Take a look at the cross section of topics and interests on the forums as your cue to what people are interested in and will talk about / watch. Keep it interesting and diverse. Good luck!
