Seems like Wave II street date is 11/20/2015

By JediJF, in Star Wars: Armada

I think many people in here already get their hands at wave 2 material by Massing at Sullust Events... you are lucky guys.

From my point of view, the game wont start to get people (and me, of course) deep into the meta without wave 2 stuff on the table.

Waiting until mid Decemper is hardly frustrating..

Wave 2 was officially announced April 6th:

Wave 2 was announced way to early... But FFG honestly had planned on having Wave 2 in stores months ago, but the Force Awakens stuff put a huge kink in their plans, and it's hard to fault them, when most of this is because Disney said 'You got to get this stuff out by X'.

Wave 2 was put on the boat on Sept 25th. It's almost always about 8 weeks from then to stores, so not seeing it until Nov 20th, is about right.

not sure you mean "hardly" in this case :)

My shop owner sees me more often than my gf by now. And there are no accesoires left I can buy to bridge the time to release.

I really do hope that Green Night is not on to something with the paranoia remark. The second this becomes true I think our game has no real future. Well, I preordered two pieces of everything, for a start.

Don't keep holding your breath, it looks like on Amazon the release date has been moved to Nov. 30th...and I was just really getting into this game too.

I demand more things quicker!

ffg had stated that armada was their biggest release ever. I doubt they would make that claim I'd it was false. Just my ten cents

This is getting me rather frustrated. I suppose I shouldn't be because they are all just little Plastic ships, but dammit, I really love this game. I have a huge order of stuff (More Large ships then I could technically point wise ever play with, I'm a Shipohomaniac, and love Capital Class Spaceships) that I'm anxiously waiting on.

An the longer this draws out the more I get concerned about the future. My interest has not waned, and I dont expect it to. Yet a part of me grows ever more concerned for the game as a whole, that support will stop. An I REALLY DON'T want that to happen.

I am not sure why everyone is so stressed out about this. It has been stated many times on these boards that if they deliver on Nov 20ish that is about the same time frame they have delivered other products being shipped from China based on the "on the boat" status update. They have no control over how fast these things get here. Just chill, they will be here soon enough.

Even if its a few weeks after that it is still within reason. Stop falling into the "instant gratification" and "the sky is falling"crowd and relax.

We are all entitled to our opinions. I hardly believe I'm asking for instant Gratification, and am simply voicing a concern. So to be honest, I resent your remark about falling into the 'instant gratification' and 'sky is falling' crowd'. I am in neither camps. I am simply saying I'm concerned and a bit frustrated. I'm hardly calling FFG the problem or demanding information (Would I like it? Sure. do I expect it or demand it? No). In the future, I would suggest you look closer at what some are saying before trying to label them in one of those too groups. If I was more hard edged about my opinion I might agree with you on those Labels/camps, but I am not.

Anyway best of luck to you.

The optimist in me hopes that Wave 3 (yes THREE) is also on the same boat as Wave 2, but the pessimist in me says "YOU CRAZY!!!!!!!"

I think as long as Wave 2 gets here before Christmas we're good.

Thing is, as soon as Wave 1 hit it was sold out in minutes, at least on the FFG site (in fact it was sold out instantaneously). So I'm thinking when Wave 2 gets here it will vanish like a sandcastle in a hurricane. Which means if you didn't preorder anywhere you might have a wait ahead of you :C

Fortunately Wave 1 stuff is available now at least, so when Wave 3 hits, wave 2 will be in sufficient numbers to supply everyone. Just from what we know though, I think Wave 1 and 2 material is going to be sufficient to supply Rebel and Empire players for a long time regardless of future expansions. You can already create a number of pretty good lists with the new squadrons and ships out now to have the flexibility that makes this game satisfying to build for and play.

The only way this could change is if they introduce some new mechanic that is deemed essential for the game. I'm thinking something equivalent to Boost or Modifications in X-Wing, which really changed that game when they became a thing in the early meta. Just hoping that isn't the case for Armada... I'd welcome new ships, but not for the sake of requiring game-changing mechanics simply to remain competitive.

Yeah in the numbers my FLGS will probably stock this it won't take much to evaporate stock. Good thing I already pre-ordered 1 of everything and can fill gaps as budget and stocking allows.

I dont think I was off at all...in fact you specifically state "the longer this draws out the more I get concerned about the future" and if that isnt an alarmist statement I dont know what is. You are getting "rather frustrated" about it because you want it now and I understand and sympathize with you that but again based on past timing they are not even past the expected delivery date. If fact even if it doesnt come until December then that is still acceptable because they havent even given us a solid release date. They know better since the last part of the process in out of their control.

In fact, I didnt specifically call out in either groups but I will now...you are definitely in the "sky is falling" group based on your statements. Again this is just my opinion and in the scope of things doesnt mean anything in the real world. As you were voicing your opinion so was I. I suggest you read your own posts before you post them because your concern about the future is not based on any facts and didnt offer anything to the OP other than sterile conjecture.

freaking hell. i really want wave2 already!

I both can and cannot wait for Wave 2 to drop. On the one hand, patience can lead to a much greater reward in the end. On the other, I would like to be able to try a list that involves something besides VSDs, TIE Fighters, and Howlrunner. Oh, and before anyone asks, apparently the only Gladiators I can buy are the reprints, which are on the boat with Wave 2.

I hope it does arrive on time for you guys, by the time it turns around and gets back to Australia we are looking at Christmas if we are lucky.

I very much want to spend some of my time over Christmas having BBQ's, drinking beers and playing with some new toys.

See, as much as I love my cold snowy Christmas, something about BBQ Christmas really appeals to me also. Just sounds festive.

On the commentary for the worlds, one of the developers let slip they were working on wave 4, so FFG are still developing the game ;) the sky isn't falling ;)

A little more communication fom FFG would be appreciated though.

How about a Worlds roundup article followed by a state of play for Armada, future plans etc, come on FFG throw us a bone, I'm sick of 'squadrons are broken' threads ;)

I would like to see more articles in general. But FFG isn't that big of a company but they produce a ton of games.

3 Miniature games, 8 LCG's, 20 odd RPG's, and over 50 board games. So it's not like Armada is the only thing they got going.

There also isn't a whole lot to say about wave 2 really. They've previewed everything and they're waiting for it to get the stores like the rest of us. Also at this point saying anything about Wave 3 until it's at the printers is IMO a bad decision.

Yeah you are right, I remember an interview with the CEO when he talks about how many simultaneous production orders they have to juggle in a month and for a relatively small company it's absolutely insane! For the volume they handle and the number of properties they have to manage they do an unbelievable job.

For all we know they have Wave 3 pretty much designed and ready to playtest but to start talking about it before wave 2 even hits (or to even start talking about it before wave 2 has had time to settle into the community) would be bad form and feel rushed, I for one will need time to stock up on the wave and get a bunch of games under my belt before I really want to hear about wave 3.

I'd be ok with hearing about wave 3. Or some strategy articles. Some behind the scenes developer talk about things they tried but had to change would be cool. Or stuff they liked but left on the cutting room floor but they may revist. That would be cool.

I just want you to talk to me FFG, you know? We used to talk all the time. When things were still new, and exciting. But lately it feels like we're just taking it for granted. Like, I know you're gonna make ships, and you know I'm gonna buy those ships. But I don't just wanna push them around the table. Lets put the work in, lets make those ships fly. Lets get back to how we were, when I would get all up on your links and excitedly guzzle down all the great new spoilers you would spew at me. Now I just take your ships and leave you some money. It doesn't feel like it did before. Somehow, its become dirty.

I just want to hear from you, FFG. Please talk to me. Let me in.

I felt strangely uncomfortable reading this...

Dude, don't be so needy ;)

Armada will come around given enough time, and if not - then you are better off anyway

For all we know they have Wave 3 pretty much designed and ready to playtest but to start talking about it before wave 2 even hits

They said for X-Wing which I think is safe to say works much the same in Armada, that it's typically 18 months from the time they start working on it until it's sent to stores.

So that means they likely started working on Wave 3 about the time they announced Wave 2.

During the live stream of Armada @Worlds2015, Alex Davy let slip that he "may or may not be" working on Wave 4.

That would make sense, its very likely that wave 3 is finished development and may be in early production.
