Seems like Wave II street date is 11/20/2015

By JediJF, in Star Wars: Armada

US distributors have them already. FFG, please let them release them!

Say whaaaaaaa?

Distributors have been complaining that they have them but can't release them. Not that it means we will get it anytime soon. That's just their response when asked for a ship date. Shrug

Narrrgggghh! If that's true, and I'm taking it with a heep of salt (mostly from my own tears)... what the hell is FFG waiting for? The wave was delayed (from what I understand) becomes someone forced the episode vii xwing ahead in production. Why are they forcing us to wait to some blank date that they like better. Grr, if true that makes me a bit miffed.

Because the US is the Center of the Universe, of course...

The less of a delay between release there and everywhere else is also a desired outcome.

No one is making that insinuation but you.

However FFG is an American company, it's not strange that America would be their primary market.

Aha. I was more crowing at the people who were strutting about as if this was a travesty more than anything :D

But it would answer the question as to why its in US Distributor Hands, and not released.

Especially since part of the distributor agreements between FFG and say, Lion Rampant, are reciprocal - Releasing too early in the United States does damage Sales in Canada, at the very least. Or at least, would have the appearance to.

Ah.

Agreed. Yeah the delay isn't something we can change so it's not worth getting worked up over.

I also agree with your explanation for a possible delay. I figured it was for a simultaneous release. But that's just my musing, not something from my informants.

Do we have a Newt date yet?

Newt that I know of....

I always assumed Canadians wrote the date the sensible way we do in Britain. I'm disappointed :(

As an American let me tell you that I have no idea what we're doing with our date structure.

Join the military. We use the metric system and write dates in a sensible format. Not sure what the hell is wrong with the rest of you fat, lazy, A.D.D. civilians =)

I can state unequivocally that releasing in the states before Canada by even 1 week would absolutely hurt Canadian stores and distributors because I would most certainly take my impatient ass on a 1 hour road trip over the border to buy all the lovelies and worry about apologizing to my FLGS owner after.

It could also be that they stocked some but not all their distributors and so they need to hold on till a given critical mass or same thing will happen where FFG is likely to piss off its supply chain right down to the customer level.

TBH I don't buy the whole "entirety of wave 2 is on a single boat headed for North America" crap, they have been pumping these things out for a while now and you can walk from here to China on boats, certainly there is some stock already at some distributors. If they would like to PM me their addresses I volunteer to personally test their security protocols.

I imagine we do it for the same reason so many stupid things are done...tradition. Someone, somewhere started it for whatever reason, and now we continue to do it because thats the way its always been done.

My theory is that is its another artifact of America's rebellious phase and we wanted to show we could do things are own way.

I'll help you test their security. As an ex security guard and army combat engineer.... Pretty sure we could fill a box truck with wave two. Maybe a second box truck for your stuff too. :-D

I find it completely and utterly Ironic that, despite all that, they still cling to the British Imperial measurement system...

You mean the American military uses meters and gramms and all the SI units? I did not know that.

Thinking about units of distance, it seems very inconsistent where I live. At the small scale mm seems by far the most common, never nths of an inch. At the next size up, cm and inches are both frequently used. Almost nobody uses kilometres, always miles, yet I hear meters used far more often than yards. I suppose it the fields in which those scales are commonly discussed...

I remember once, when I was a younger scale modeller dealing with producers in the US, and I was initiated into the wonderful world of decimals of fractions of an inch...

0.35 1/8ths of an Inch.

That was the most messed up I ever saw...

But hey, back on subject - I havn't specifically heard anything from any of my Lion Rampant dealing stores yet, and I know the 'box would be looking forward to clearing floor space.

We use a mixture of everything. We're still Americans, so weight tends to stay Imperial. You'll see the occasion measurement in grams, though, mainly when working with coalition partners. After all, we have to be able to understand what they're telling us. Aviation also remain mainly in feet, but that's because worldwide aviation in general uses that system. Maps and distance are the biggest thing. We talk almost exclusively in meters when it comes to ground movement and targets. Maps at the tactical level have 1km square grid squares.

Sorry, double post

Yeah every Canadian store owner I've drilled says there is none of yet. The Lion Rampant site itself is also showing not available, but again, I'm sure some distis in the US have at least some stock by now and when it hit lion rampant it will be a go for release.

In fact Lion Rampant is a 40 minute drive from where I live. I should hope they ship to stores near me faster :)

I think they may be waiting on world's. . . It would make sense to me. Have everyone still focused on world's and live stream it and then right afterwards drop wave 2 with the influx of X-Wing players having watched the Armada stream.

Someone going to world's, bring your ISD or MC80 and just place it on the table! Use it to grab attention!

The real question is, do the Imperials use the metric system?
