So those of you familiar with WEG Galaxy Guides, there are a few nice Jedi training detailed in the book. I recently converted them to this system for the Jedi-in-training in my game. So I thought I would share:
Jedi training
Lightsaber training – PC will need to determine how he approaches each task. The difficulty is determined by HIS approach to the task so he can LEARN how to accomplish things on his own. All difficulties begin at Daunting dddd difficulty and can be adjusted from there. For reductions to the difficulty, see below. The PC may use other skills, but reductions only come from those listed below.
First Cadence
The goal of the First Cadence is to practice control, discipline, and precision in lightsaber combat. The padawan places a durasteel ball bearing on top of the candle and must destroy the ball bearing without harming/melting the candle.
One hour duration
19 wax cylinders (candles)
190 durasteel ball bearings
STEP 1
Precise location of candle and ball bearing. Use of Discipline skill will reduce difficulty one step.
STEP 2
Strike the ball bearing. Use of Sense with the Lightsaber skill will reduce the difficulty two steps. Use of Discipline with the Lightsaber skill will reduce the difficulty one step.
Once the above is mastered (success on the Lightsaber skill check in Step 2) the padawan should add another candle at a 10 degree interval so that eventually all 19 candles will appear in a 180 degree arc in front of the padawan, and repeat. (additional candles add setback and eventually upgrade the difficulty)
The padawan must perform all 19 candles, left-handed, right-handed, two-handed, and blindfolded before being able to move on to the Second Cadence.
Full completion (19 candles) – may add a b to all Lightsaber skill checks for an entire session.
The Stun Remote Training Droid
This is a training that is very simple and easy for the padawan to practice at their own pace.
30 minute duration
Requires training remote (Rarity 6?)
Survive the 30 minutes deflecting stun blasts from the training remote
Average dc Lightsaber skill checks, upgraded once to account for the randomness of the attacks. Padawan may commit a Sense Force die to gain a b to the check.
Must survive 10 total attacks, Damage 3 + failures or threats, Stun Damage (ignores soak?)
Full completion – may add a b to all Lightsaber skill checks for an encounter of the padawan’s choosing.
Sense and Control Practice
The Oxygen Bottle
The goal of this exercise is to completely remove everything from a vacuum-sealed bottle, creating a complete vacuum. Then fill the bottle with only oxygen molecules. This takes extreme focus and opening oneself to the Force in order to be able to complete the practice.
STEP 1 – Empty the bottle
This requires the utmost concentration and use of the Sense and Move skill powers. The padawan must roll and spend one lightside Force pip on each check in succession in order to remove everything from the bottle and create a vacuum. First a Sense Force power check, then a Move Force power check.
The padawan must maintain their concentration and commit a Force die to maintain the vacuum seal
STEP 2 – Fill the bottle
The Padawan must now fill the bottle with only oxygen molecules. This requires spending two lightside Force pips on each Sense and Move Force power check. While keeping a Force die committed for Step 1.
Full completion – may add one lightside Force pip on all Sense or Move Force power checks for an entire session.
Move and Discipline Practice
Stacking Small Objects
The goal of this exercise is to stack as many objects as the padawan can with increasing difficulty. The padawan should gather a dozen or so objects of similar size. Each lightside Force pip on a Move Force power check will stack 1 object. Once 5 objects have been stacked, the padawan must commit a Force die to maintain the stack. If the padawan fails to roll any lightside Force pips at any time, the test fails and the objects fall. Once the padawan has a stack of objects they feel comfortable with stacked (should have at least 1 Force die committed), they should then try to manipulate them into different shapes (while having a Force die committed). Failure to roll any lightside Force pips and the test fails and the objects fall. If the padawan is able to manipulate them into different shapes without them falling then the task should be considered complete. Full completion: TBD.
