Competitive scum list

So I wanted to run a scum list in casual play at my lgs, something other than brobots, so I came up with this:

Kavil (24pts)

VI (1point)

Autoblaster turret (2 pts)

EU (4 pts)

Kath Scarlett (38pts)

PTL (3 pts)

EU (4 pts)

Total 76 pts

That leaves 24 pts... I was thinking either

A. Black sun ace (23)

Crackshot (1)

Or

B. Serissu (20)

Heavy scyk (2)

Flechette cannon (2)

What do you guys think? A, B or can you think of a better use of the 24 pts?

I'm a bigger fan of B, but I'm not sure about the whole autoblaster turret on Kavil thing. Sure, its great when you can use it, but getting a Y-Wing at range 1 may be more trouble than its worth.

I've been using Black Sun Aces with crackshot recently and I think they're great. One third of your list has to be in range one to do any serious damage and so in this case I think the Flechette cannon is the weaker option compared to another three attack dice ship.

If you want to get Kavil within range 1 you are going to have to take the Unhinged astromech. It's the only thing that will give you enough maneuveraability. I tried to run Autoturret on Y's with EU once, but I found that I always had to use the action for boost and couldn't modify the dice enough to be effective.

You might want to try Kavil with TLTs and Marksmanship since that will apply to both shots.

Shrapnelbait beat me to it, I was going to say exactly the same thing, drop the EU on Kavil for unhinged astromech. Saves you four points too!

I'm not too sure at all about the autoblaster turret either. I generally dislike those kinda range stipulations on ships like Y wings! They just aren't manoeuvrable enough to close with fast stuff. If your autoblaster isn't firing much Kavils ability is largely wasted. He's much better with TLT.

- Blaster Turret

Keep in mind that when you spend the focus to fire the Blaster Turret, you immediately get a target lock on the target. So you now have a four dice turret shot (range 1-2) with target lock. It is pretty effective.

Autoblaster Kavil NEEDS both unhinged AND engine upgrade to be effective. Even with 3 dice though, its hard to get good results out of it. Yes you might deal 1 or 2 damage that bypasses green dice, but considering you are spending 7 pts (2 for turret +1 for unhinged +4 for engine) you are better off just running a TLT for the ability to deal about the same damage for 1 pt less and you don't need veteran instincts or a droid (although they are useful if you have points to spare).

Taking predator instead of veteran instincts helps to get more consistent damage on the autoblaster, especially when boosting. I've heard people have good success with push the limit + unhinged + autoblaster + engine but it is a bit expensive at 34.
