Mask of the Pirate queen preview

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Not much too it, just some info about Ord Mantell, but it's on the horizon. Let's just hope it's not lost at sea...

Fingers crossed

Wonder why this isn't on the news page.

News page doesn't update that fast anymore.

Go to the homepage. News is like a week behind for some reason.

Wow... Ord Mantell sure has changed in the last 3600 years.

Gentrification.....

I sometimes feel that I'm missing out on a lot, not having played any of the Old Republic games.

You're definitely missing out if you haven't played the Knights of the Old Republic games, they're great!

That's an easy fix, it's not like they're unavailable. I'm currently doing a KotOR run on my iPad.

Personally, I think the storylines in SW:TOR are great as well (well, most of them, but all of them together certainly tells an interesting story).

And SW:TOR is free for the personal stories, so there's really no excuse there :)

I enjoy KotOR, but it could be underwhelming to somebody who has already spoiled themselves to the story. It's nearly 13-years-old, so it's aging noticeably in some places. I like The Sith Lords more, but it is a very divisive game in comparison, and it's buggier and missing content.

TOR can be take it or leave it, but I enjoy it as well (the newest storyline is crazy off the rails -- a benefit of not being tied to canon anymore, maybe?), but the story lines are fun.

SW:TOR is fine if you’ve got a PC or Xbox, or whatever. But I don’t play any games that don’t run on my Mac or my iPad. So, that part of the EU is totally unavailable to me.

I'm definitely getting this. My group can always use more detailed shadowports to use as homeports in our pirate, privateer, and smuggler campaigns and while this probably won't be the Pirates and Privateers counterpart that I hope for I'm sure it will have lots of new Pirate and Privateering gear including a nice array of new pirate ships and vehicles hopefully.

Hope that helps :D

I have to say I'm looking forward to the book as I like the idea of Ord Mantell as a story location. Just have to hope it doesn't go the way of Strongholds of the Resistance and be "on the water" for what has been many months.

I never played TOR, but the book you link to is what had me itching to use it for the RPG since I like the dynamics of it better than the Rebellion era. Having two large powers in conflict with lots of lesser powers caught in the middle is more interesting to me than the single monolithic power with some plucky underdogs fighting them.

TOR (and the KotoR games that came before it) is a fairly fun game. It's just a major time sink (like any MMORPG). I know that era is one of my favorites, from way back in the day when it was nothing more than an awesome comic (oh Exar Kun the inventor of the double bladed lightsabre).

Boot Camp doesn’t help, because I don’t do Windows[0].

If it’s not available on OS X or iOS, I don’t play it.

[0] OggDude’s Character Generator doesn’t count, since it runs on a VM in Amazon AWS, and I only leave that up long enough to do the latest update for my character, then shut it down again.
