Something You May Have Missed (ATTN: Worlds Players)

By ThatJakeGuy, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

A friend has alerted me that in the latest tournament rules (and perhaps in earlier versions) lies this little gem:

"Deployment and Mission cards must remain unaltered, though

they may be sleeved for protection. Command cards must be

sleeved, and their sleeves must be identical and unaltered."

Just thought I'd put that out there so people can buy the sleeves they need before they show up in Roseville and are told they need sleeves. They may run out.

People play with unsleeved cards ?

I was planning on just getting enough sleeves for only my 15 command cards, as sleeving all of them would take up more space than i can maage right now.

I swear this was in there for Nationals too and there was no enforcement of sleeves on Command cards.

Yeah, I played at Nationals unsleeved and no one ever bothered me

Seems like a strange rule to be enforced. Not everyone *wants* to sleeve cards, so why would this be mandatory?

Not complaining, just curious. :)

The cards wear off when played unsleeved. Wear could be used as markings. So for example you could know early, that the next card on your deck is a Son of Skywalker and you could plan your turn around that.

Playing with unsleeved cards ≈ playing with marked cards.

Except, does FFG even sell opaque sleeves for the hobbit cards? I've checked the FFGC for opaque Lilliputian cards and was unable to find them. Clear sleeves on faded cards, is just as useless.

It doesn't even matter whether or not the sleeves are opaque or not. It's just as easy to "mark" a sleeve. Especially the ones with designs on them where a small pen mark wouldn't be discernible.

I don't play in sanctioned tournaments, but if I did, I would cheat in every conceivable way. If only because I assume everyone else is cheating as well.

I've put all my Cards in sleeves before I played them the first time: No wear, no fade.

In my experience, your assumption is wrong ...

I never play with unsleeved cards for any game. I want to protect what I bought.

Got through worlds with an unsleeved command deck. Nobody cared.
