What to buy wave2 based on good lists?

By Blail Blerg, in Star Wars: Armada

Hi, one of these threads again, but I've been debating for a while.

Into wave 2, do you see any use for:

A second Victory? Are there builds where you'd want a 2nd victory?

Rhymer? VVGGG? I'm not super sold on these being awesome lists either.

A 2nd or 3rd ISD? A second ISD I can see, but has anyone played somehting like that and found out how useful it is to only have 2 or 3 ships at 400pts?

1 or 2 shrimps? Shrimps are expensive, and I've had a hard time fitting two into a list and having space for the rest of what i want.

2raiders? I think that will be ok.

I'm going with the "buy what I want to fly" theory but probably one of everything at minimum. Until you really get a chance to play stuff or see it played it is tough to know what will or won't be good. Money isn't unlimited but I also don't have to buy everything I want all at once. I'll just play it by ear.

I tend to a bit of a combined arms approach with an eye towards being flexible. More ships seems more flexible. But if you fly it right ships will disappear if they find themselves in the front arc of a couple of tricked out ISDs.

I went with 2 of everything for wave 2. Seems to pretty much cover all the bases.

I think 2 of everything is a good starting point. If you want to skew past there (Corvette spam, perhaps?) then that's something you can evaluate later. 2 ISDs is pushing it, though.

I bought two ISD's almost soley because my crew uses my ships exclusively and I want us to be able to mirror match and play 600 pt games on occasion.

Yeah my one of my friends and I like to play +100-200 points games because we like the spectacle and sense of scale from more ships on the table. I'll be picking up two ISDs for sure because I'm sure I'll get to use them in games of that size. If you're sticking to 400 point games, however, it's a bit of a stretch...

Ill probably get 1 more isd (have one now). In reality im more likely to run one isd and two victories.

One of each pack, but 2 corvettes. I need the 2 corvettes to balance out the med/small ship ratio in the Imperial fleet as opposed to the rebels.

I think 2 ISDs will be a decent list, I did some dice experiments and properly equipped An ISD can take down almost any smaller ship with a single volley and the MC80 can almost do the same so dont discount a list with only 2 large ships.

Same reasoning for me. I've toyed with some double-ISD 400 point lists, but always feel like I'm skimping on something important. At 600, though... *salivates*

Everything. . . Must buy everything. . .

Loving a pair of Raiders. I'm going to buy at least one more.

Rogues and Villains is a definite buy. At least one. Add more to taste.

Buy one of each.

The only ship is risk buying another of from W1 is the Assault Frigate, folloed possibly by the Neb-B for the XI7 TLs and Intel Officer, who is going to be extremely valuable.

Thanks muchly.

I'm going with 2ISD after having fun imagining people salivating at the thought. Though, I will readily admit, 2 ISDs in 400 points is pretty squished.

apart from that, though

2 Shrimps if Akbar; lots of flexibility on the scout variant between long and short range power

two VSDs if tractor beams for sure. They hit the AFmk2 with speed debuffs and they stack very effectively

can't see much use for multiple ISD. One for a centerpiece seems ideal, any more and it starts getting prohibitive

multiple raider depends on the roles. Anti-squadron? anti-fighter screen? OLP carrier?

anyone any luck with 2 shrimp lists?

not really just 2 shrimp, but 2 Afmk2 + 2 shrimp or Home One + 2 shrimp etc.

Debating on a second Guppy, as I've been starting to like it more and most people seem to have 2-3 anyways...

Definitely gonna get one each of ISD and Home One.

Definitely gonna get three Shrimps.

It's incredibly likely that I'll wind up getting two Raiders (come on, the ship just looks awesome).

I'll probably get Rogues and Villains, but I'll have to wait and see how the generics of the ships in there do in gameplay to see if I want more than that.

I only have one of everything in wave one so far, and am wondering whether wave 2 rebel ships will negate the need/usefulness of getting another Afmk2? Cost is a factor for me, so wave two will be bought slowly regardless.

I got 3 AFs. Sadly, the third one is mostly for painting. I'll be looking to play my first game with it this week, even after having it for 2 months.

I've also tried list building with it. When you run 3 AFs, thats the list core. You're unlikely do to much else. And the deploy is going to be similar. I haven't been able to get anything except the congo line to work out.

as for 3 shrimps... I haven't been able to get 3 in there nicely.

---

And I meant at least 2 shrimps, not just two shrimps.

I've considered some builds, but when I think about it, I feel like im just overkilling whatever I'm thinking about. one shrimp should do enough damage.

Anyone who's used the shrimps... how does the red one do if you don't get into close range? Meh firepower? Or does your opponent eventually rush it and want to get close?

Hmmm...not sold. Played against a 5 Glad list with only wave 2 ships and those Glads die mighty fast. Against wave 2 ships... I shudder.

If you don't like salt in your wounds, please read no further.

I dutifully put in my pre-orders: 1 ISD and two Raiders. Then I go and earn a Raider as TO and I win two ISDs. I ran a 2x ISD list, but I was having too much fun, and Lyraeus's Ackbar list chewed them up. But, you should'a seen them ISDs cruisin' at Speed 3! It was a sight to behold.

Anyway, here's my dilemma: Find out if a 3x ISD list is any good, or sell off the spare ISD still in the wrapping for MSRP-15%.

I'm pretty sure that I can find a use for a third Raider.
