Lead by Example

So I didn't work on this one, but I'm super excited for it! The decorations sound amazing. I have no idea what they did with them, but I can see them as a great way to add some boost die to social checks for more military focused characters that have little training in social skills when worn. And granted, I'm sure they're supposed to be awarded, but if your character is dressed up like an Imperial Officer to infiltrate that officer's ball to steal/kidnap/gather information on whatever thing the campaign says, forging a few medals can lead to some amazing "stolen valor" moments in a campaign. I'm going to have SO much fun with that, and I'm probably going to go nuts on wookieepedia and house rule some effects for like, ALL the decorations from TIE Fighter and X-Wing built off whatever they give us for this. Because I'm super excited about ribbons and decorations.

Also nice to see strongholds mentioned as "soon" in the article. I really want to see the art they put in my sections on that one!

It's an interesting addition. It could offer some interesting guidelines for other era games (like the Cold War).

Already at the printers, hopefully things are flowing smoothly now.

I've really been waiting for this since I helped out the play test for EoE. Now, granted, not much was known then, or at least not that they were telling anyone, but still, having played a commander in SWG, WEG, and WotC, I was hoping that they'd come out with some sort of Commander role eventually. And when the first career source book was announced I eagerly awaited a commander book or a Career with a commander in it. And it's finally happened. I jumped up and down for joy when I saw it's announcement at work and got strange looks when I did. LOL

:) I know how you feel fortunately mom was at the doctor's leaving me home alone with the dogs when I read the announcement. The dogs clearly thought I had gone nuts though.

Yeah I'm so excited for this one I've preordered it.

Decorations would be nice. I'm trying to get a handful of them distilled from Wookiepedia but it's a lot of work. We are playing the Dead in the Water module and I figure if they save the ship they should get some kind of medals for that. From what I'm reading the Star of Alderaan looks about right but I'm not sure. It will be nice to have that solidified.

Well, as the guy who wrote that adventure, let me offer some unsolicited thoughts on this idea!

1.) This link has a pretty exhaustive list of the EU awards starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Alliance_awards

2.) The Medal of Bothawui is specific to Intelligence gathering, and capturing the Intelligence agents in the third act could make this medal appropriate.

3.) The Nebula for Bravery also seems like a decent, if somewhat generic award for more covert action missions.

4.) The Redbird is the equivalent to our purple heart, so if anyone suffered a higher end critical wound in action, you might consider them for this.

5.) Star of Alderaan is a pretty solid choice, EU canonically speaking.

6.) Random thought, you gotta get that award ceremony fanfare from ANH to play on your phone at the table for that moment. Its too iconic.

Hope Dead in the Water ran smooth for you!

I thought that was the "forgotten to dodge and use cover" medal.

Yeah. The purple heart.

Yeah. The purple heart.

I love how on the wookieepedia site on the entry for the redbird it says the Specforce personnel have rows of this medal.

That wouldn't make much sense, especially since such a badge/medal should be only rewarded once.

That being said, when compared to the Purple Heart, the use of a device would indicate how many "times" the recipient has received the award. The only time some would have multiple awards would be if the first one had the max number of devices allowed.

In the case of the Purple Heart (and other like rewards), after the award is presented, an oak leaf cluster was used to designate the additional times. Bronze is used to indicated one reward, while a silver would indicate five awards (plus one for the ribbon/reward). The max number of devices a single award can have is four. According to Wiki, the only times a second ribbon is used is for the tenth, fourteenth, fifteenth, eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth awards.

Currently, they do not have a gold cluster yet, which I don't even want to think about.

The book is now on the boat :)

Yay hopefully I'll be able to get it in February.

I'm interested in this, but I will be more excited when Special Modifications come out.

I'll love both of them but as I've said many times I feel the Alliance ship inventory needs more Sil 7 craft badly and I'm hoping this will have some. Maybe if I am very lucky some Sil 5s and Sil 6s as well because I usually prefer craft in those ranges to the larger capital ships..
