Y'know, I was never into Sasha Grey. Just never saw the appeal.
Pretty face.

And the OP isn't asking that those things not be discussed. He's asking that the things that are potential spoilers not be IN THE TOPIC TITLE. I really don't think that's an unreasonable request.
This. This is all the OP is asking. A teeny, tiny bit of courtesy. No where did the OP say "don't post any spoilers anywhere, ever", but good job over-reacting almost-everyone.
Sheesh.
I think the argument though is who gets to define what a spoiler is? If it is something that has been publicly released - like say, the trailer, then, to many folks, that isn't a spoiler anymore. It's out there. You can partake or not - but it isn't a spoiler, so you can't really expect people to abide by your definition of what you want to avoid.

Exactly. If someone wants to stick their head in the sands then the onus is on them not me to avoid whatever it is their definition of spoilers is.
At the very least, Jobu makes a reasonable request that any Force Awakens discussion or speculation remain in the "off topic" subforum.

Well, sorry, but that's bull****.
You can argue there's a statute of limitations on spoilers, and what that might be. But to say that the instant something comes out, it's not a spoiler anymore is just asinine.
"Hey! Can you believe soandso died on last nights episode of whatever?!"
"I had to work and didn't get to see it yet."
"Well, it was out, so sucks to be you I guess."

...is something an ***hole would say.

The only one I have seen being that in this thread is you. Name calling isn't a way to win any discussion. Reported post and enjoy my ignore user list.

I didn't call you an ***hole. You called yourself an ***hole, by saying something only ***holes say.
I'm sorry, but this not a Star Wars movie discussion forum. It's an X-Wing Miniatures discussion forum. And the notion that any fan of the game who doesn't want to have the movie spoiled for them has to cut themselves off from any X-Wing news and game discussion for months is pathetic.
And the attitude that it's their fault for not wanting to be spoiled is just gross.
Edited by DarthEnderXFFG please kill this thread.
Everyone needs to step back. I actually kind of agree with darthenderx - even though I may not agree with how he says it. Anything that spoils characters that appear in EP7 will inherently appear and be discussed if relevant to XWM. Let's just try not to spoil the actual movies, and be kind of careful about this.
basically, don't be a **** guys.
This said though. SNAPE KILLED DUMBLEDORE!!! DARTH VADER IS LUKES FATHER AND YES, BRUCE WILLIS' CHARACTER WAS A GHOST THE WHOLE TIME.

Suddenly The Fifth Element makes a lot more sense.
On a more serious note, DarthEnderX, using the language and writing style you did does not really help in a conversation which revolves around courtesy to other people in a forum. I appreciate the support, but being courteous goes both ways. It is really possible to express disagreement with a statement without saying/implying that someone is an <expletive deleted>.
You wanna hear a spoiler about star wars:
*looks right*
*looks left*
I hear they're thinking of making another one.

Just you wait.
I am getting that thousand dollars back.
Exactly what I was going for. Well done.
Edited by flightmaster101What's with all the vitriol directed towards the OP for what seems like an extremely reasonable request? How hard is it to add spoiler tags to the subject line of the thread?
I just don't get why this sparks so much rage in the people that don't care about spoilers. You might not care, but other people do.

I... Guess?

The rage is because they're trying to police other people's speech, which is not something anyone on this board can effectively do apart from one-sided flame wars.
It is effective to ask a person to do so, but not to attempt to create a new forum rule that differs from whatever consensus there might be and is completely unenforceable. Any "stop doing x" thread is going to generate hate on any forum on the vast internets.

How is it unenforceable?
You make a rule against it. You give warnings to anyone that breaks the rule. You ban anyone that keeps breaking it after warnings.
Just like how you enforce everything on every forum ever.

What they said...
I mean, does this forum even really have mods?
OP: Please check your privilege the next time you post. Your micro-aggressions are triggering me.

Different "you". In his example it's forum users self imposing arbitrary rules achieving a personal agenda as etiquette. In yours, it's forum moderators laying down laws.
Ah, okay.

I'm sorry but this is bunk. It has nothing to do with controling content, it's just a completely reasonable request to limit the information provided in the subject line and to politely warn those that are trying to avoid spoilers that they are present.
It's called being considerate.

I think you are inferring something that is not there.
I am inferring by your usage of the words "privilege" and "micro-aggression" that you are implying that my post is either racist or sexist. Is that inference correct? I ask this question because I am confused as to what you are trying to say.

Not trying to be intentionally patronizing here, but efforts were to a) point out the source of all the rage and b) demonstrate the pointlessness of asking (which may as well be telling on a forum) for such a thing. I mean, if you're just venting, that's one thing, but expecting the desired outcome is foolish.
NERD: The Rage-n-ing
This time it's personal.
Coming to an XWM forum near you.
And all forums, really.
