Request About Spoilers (Force Awakens, no spoilers here)

By Jobu, in X-Wing

Hey folks,

Could you not post spoilers for the movie in your subjects?

Also, if your post has spoilers say something about it containing spoilers.

I am really trying to avoid any more information about the movie, I would like to keep coming to this board and it seems every week I learn something new about the film from this board.

Besides you know there is an off topic sub section for things not related to the X-Wing game.

EDIT: Someone did post some more info further down in the post, so the "no spoilers here" tag is not really accurate anymore. (This was really easy for me to post)

Seconded, I'm trying to avoid all the trailers to preserve the excitement of setting the movie in theaters.

Thirded. I'm grateful for those who have been tagging "spoilers" in their thread titles. Really looking forward to going into this movie "blind"!! :D

The majority of spoilers in titles aren't true anyways.

You wanna hear a spoiler about star wars:

*looks right*

*looks left*

I hear they're thinking of making another one.

If you wanna avoid spoilers. Stay off the internet for two months. See you in December. :)

Good news. No spoilers exist.

How is it a spoiler if its in the trailer? Just because we know that Luke puts on Kylo Rens mask in the trailer doesn't make the story of his fall to the darkside any less interesting. If you're talking about the Millenium Falcon blowing up in the trailer (which was posted here earlier), who didn't see that coming? Harrison Ford hasn't been secretive in his dislike of Star Wars, it would make sense that he wants Han to die in this film.

If you're afraid of any info regarding Star Wars you'll have to stay off of a forum dedicated to Star Wars gaming until after December.

I understand people that want to avoid spoilers. Making posts like this and asking for a little consideration from others is fine. I think a community like the one here will probably be accommodating.

That being said, I'm very much of the opinion that if a TV show has aired or if a trailer has been released, it's not a spoiler. If you want to avoid something that has been released, then you pretty much need to avoid the internet. It's a like a zombie virus...expect to be exposed, especially when you're talking about one of the most anticipated movies in years.

Agreed on all counts.

If it's released, it's not a true spoiler. Avoiding actual plot spoilers and avoiding the mass marketing are two completely different things.

Avoiding everything means you didn't buy the new core set because you don't want any hints about the named pilots and astromechs released in it. Avoiding everything means you didn't watch Monday night football last week on the off chance you might see the commercial and really staying TV free ever since Star Wars Toy day when all the new figures and games listing names of people and ships came out. A toy commercial can reveal a lot.

Being respectful here means not posting actual spoilers without spoiler tags.

But it's the responsibility of the person keeping in the bubble to stay in the bubble when at any minute the released trailer could show on any network commercial break. That means no TV that contains commercials and no internet that has ads, and especially no star wars themed internet where users can post and post pictures.

Of those avoiding anything Ep7, I am curious how far you're taking it. Are you truly avoiding everything that could spoil something for you, or do you watch tv and already own the new core set? Have you seen the trailers and teasers, or are you staying willfully ignorant?

Spoiler: Ep 7 content

Just kidding, but shhh, they'll never know!

Not gonna lie, I did not see that coming.

It's JJ, there won't be any true spoilers.... Feel free to remove the twist from your underpants at this time.

Trailers/discussing trailers are not spoilers.

To the OP your TROLLING right?

If you want to avoid something that has been released, then you pretty much need to avoid the internet. It's a like a zombie virus...expect to be exposed

This is only true because it's unrealistic to expect people on the internet to not be ***holes.

I suppose if your argument is "Sorry, people on the FFG forums will be ***holes just like everywhere else on the internet", then sure, I guess that's valid.

It certainly would be NICE though if one could expect people to behave just a little better here than the internet in general.

But, I suppose if you think "better than human garbage" is setting the bar too high for us, then...*shrug*

No. That's not my point at all.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a highly anticipated movie. People are going to talk about it on the internet. People are talking about it all over the internet. They're not going to use spoiler warnings on everything, nor should they be expected to. If you want to avoid hearing things about the movie, that's fine, but the impetus is on you to avoid it, not to the rest of the internet to avoid talking about it around you. People sharing things with others that might enjoy is not being the colorful metaphor you chose to call them. It's just sharing their excitement for the movie with others who are just as excited.

This is a forum about a Star Wars game. As a consequence, one should expect that things other than just the X-wing Miniatures game, but still Star Wars related, will be discussed...especially Episode VII. Trailers that have been publicly released will be discussed publicly. It was seen by millions on Monday Night Football and has 47.8 million views on Youtube. It's out there. People will talk about it, and they aren't (insert previous colorful metaphor)for doing it.

Now, many people here will use spoiler warnings at your request in order to be courteous, but there's no requirement for it. I will do so, because I want to be considerate of people trying to avoid learning about the movie.

I'm not trying to be rude or stern, but realistic. People are going to talk about the movie. The only way to truly avoid it is to not go where it's being discussed. Otherwise, hope people use spoiler warnings, but if they don't, it doesn't make them an (aforementioned colorful metaphor).

They're not going to use spoiler warnings on everything, nor should they be expected to.

Of course not. Because that would be the halfway decent thing to do. And expecting common courtesy on the internet is unrealistic.

If you want to avoid hearing things about the movie, that's fine, but the impetus is on you to avoid it

Right, because if you don't want to know what happens in a movie before you go see it, you should completely avoid using the tool of communication and information that is a fundamental part of modern life.

You may as well ask someone to spend the next two months *****ing outdoors to avoid spoilers.

And the OP isn't asking that those things not be discussed. He's asking that the things that are potential spoilers not be IN THE TOPIC TITLE. I really don't think that's an unreasonable request.

Idle speculation based on trailers is not spoilers, but it is spreading rumors. And rumors power the internets.

With that said, when did they change Jaina and Jacen to Rey and Kylo Ren?

See, that's not a spoiler but it is very irresponsible.

This. This is all the OP is asking. A teeny, tiny bit of courtesy. No where did the OP say "don't post any spoilers anywhere, ever", but good job over-reacting almost-everyone.

Sheesh.

I really need photoshop so I can put a spoiler on a T70.

I'm gonna put spoilers in every post from now on just out of spite.

R2 is in the new movie!!!

I really need photoshop so I can put a spoiler on a T70.

You know what genuinely looks good with spoilers? A YT-2000. One on the top and another on the bottom.

It's a good looking ship anyway. so yeah, I can see it.

But really, that's like saying Sasha Gray looks good with clown shoes.

She does, but she looks good without them too.

Y'know, I was never into Sasha Grey. Just never saw the appeal.
