So I modified a frigate.....

How?

Easy. Cut the fin off 2 frigates with a hobby knife, then sand down the diagonal facings on the frigate (as well as the end of the 2 fins) and then re-attach them with superglue.

This was literally a 5-minute conversion.

This frigate is my Salvation, the other frigate I am armouring up and adding bomber supply pods to make Yvaris.

She's a beauty.

Great job !

Yeah, it looks really good.

The angle of the spread portion seems more obtuse than other, similar designs I've seen, I like it.

Son of a *****! That's sharp! May need to keep an eye on a deal for a donor ship.

I'm rather apprehensive to actually mutilate 2 of it. Got any work in progress pictures and/or more angles to her?

Pretty sharp. Expensive, but sharp.

I raise my hobby knife in salute. Very nice!

Do you have any in progress pics, or at least different angles of the finished ship? Oh, snap a few pics of the other neb B as you complete it please.

I rarely run Nebs, but I'd buy one to scrap and keep the extra XI7 if one came up on sale. Or even try to eBay/trade the other parts/cards.

Very cool

Can do. This is Yvaris - the idea is that the rebellion has bought a piece of junk frigate, and modified the old rust bucket with a new front end. Hence the contrast between the brilliant yellow front and rust bucket rear. The back of the ship is the size of an apartment building.... If you had a war to fight, would you paint it?

Here are some more angles of Salvation. Sorry, but it's now been sprayed ready for painting. I will paint the back part the same crappy, dirty orange as on Yvaris and the front clean, brilliant red.

Tomorrow, I can. It's 10:30pm here in China and I have to get up at 6:00 to go to work.

You are tempting me

Nice. Hoq did you get the yellow so bright?

.... Do you have any idea how close you are to aiding FFG in their quest to sell me 2 more Nebulon B's? :P

Loving the conversion work, and given that Nebulon B2's are one of my favourite ships out there, that's great to see it being modified in such a way. It's a clean and eminently workable conversion. That said, I'm genuinely impressed by the Yavaris; it's so unique. The bays, along with the extended hull really works for me. What more can I say, it's a fantastic warm paint job and quality workmanship. Top marks from me. :)

these are awesome!

Amazing! You are inspiring me to do things I might regret as I clearly do not have your skill level...

Too late for me. Coolstuffinc's sale was the trigger to butcher one of my three I already have and the one coming will be the parts donor.

Now we play the waiting game...

What's the over/under on me bleeding out while hacking the ships apart?

All 3 frigates are now finished. My original Redemption from the starter set is included as a comparison for converted Salvation and Yvaris.

Looks like you have some armor plating to those fragile side arcs!

They all look really good.

You have justified a reason for getting another pair of NebBs
