Where are the weapons on the YV-666?

By Shrike37, in X-Wing

I was just looking at my new YV-666 model and could not see any weapons on the model itself (ie no cannons or anything). Where are they supposed to be located?

I heard that they are tucked away underneath the ship.

From what I've read, all the weapons are hidden in internal bays, ready to be deployed when needed.

This is a question many Star Wars fans ask about other Sci-Fi.

It has a missle launcher (located under bridge on front if ship) as well as a laser canonon...both are obviously retracted on the model. After all, its a corellian freighter by design so bounty hunters like bossk don't always have the weapons drawn as not to draw attention to itself, being a less maneuverable ship than most starfighters.

From what I've read, all the weapons are hidden in internal bays, ready to be deployed when needed.

It then seems odd to me that FFG would not model the YV-666 with its weapons deployed (as we are playing a game where the premise is that hostilities have been commenced at the start of the game). Subterfuge is out the window at that point.

According to Wookiepedia (for whatever that's worth) the weapon systems are located on the bottom of the three decks, along with the engines and power core.

I agree that it's somewhat odd that there are no modeled weapons, but if I recall Bossk's Hound's Tooth had considerably modified weapon systems compared to a run-of-the-mill YV-666. I suppose if they modeled the weapons for one, it would ruin the verisimilitude for the other versions (not that the Hound's Tooth paint job doesn't do that already).

That would make a little more sense I guess. But at the same time, you are right about the paint job already designating it as the Hound's Tooth. I still think it is a shame they didn't model the weapons.

I agree completely, it would look cooler.

;)

Does anyone have a picture of the hounds tooth with its guns out? I'm already considering a re paint on it and I'd like to try giving it guns.

I don't hear anyone complaining about the Firespray not having any obvious missile and torpedo tubes or hidden HLCs showing on the model.

Or the IG-2000 Agressor. Where's the weapons on that thing? You can barely tell which end is the front!

This image is from the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels, a (pretty cool) Star Wars reference book from the '90s. Now, what that's worth in today's canon environment, I couldn't say.

Notice the engine drive nozzles. Seems like the thing would just spin in nausea inducing circles, endlessly pitching up.

Some things, you are better off not over-thinking. I think the flying sand-crawler is one of those things.

Bossk opens the door, leans out, and fires his blaster rifle.
