So, for fun, I tested Juke out compared to other attacks. Evading for Juke on a two-attack ship is reliably better than Focusing when attacking an enemy that does not have a Focus token. Juke on a two-dice ship essentially makes it a three-dice ship in terms of damage. Couple that with Evade tokens being better on defense than Focus tokens, and Juke turns out to be a remarkably powerful upgrade. Unless the enemy Focuses every round. In which case, you're usually making them want to spend the token on defense anyway, which still isn't a bad thing. No wonder I love the 4 Juke+Comm Relay TIE/fo list I flew the other night.
X-Wing Probability Calculator
Added defensive Wired.
Oh hey, this is neat. Lets see how badly my '4 ships at range 1 of a K-wing with at least a TL or a Focus' scenario at SC actually went for me...
Wedge 4, ft v 0
expected 3.75
4, f vs 1
expected ~2.63
3, t v 1
expected 1.88
3, t v 1
expected 1.88
Total expected: 10.14(~9.89 if the K-wing had a focus, can't remember)
Total actual: 5
Yep, was as bad as it felt. Good to know.
Looking at an unmodified stresshog attack against an unmodified IG-88 makes me feel like I wasn't crazy about how absurd it was I had my stresshog chasing IG-88B around the table for enough rounds(he never turned to try to fight it until right before it died, where of course he hit me with console fire before going down...) to get over 14 stress tokens while failing to kill it after it was already damaged. That whole day was just a mess for me dice wise...
An erroneous version was inadvertently uploaded with the last update. Calculations with defensive Wired were not producing correct results. It has now been fixed.
Some people have reported problems viewing in mobile devices so I have created an alternate layout.
http://xwingcalculator.x10host.com/diceuilmmob.html
I haven't been able to reproduce the mobile issues, so feedback is appreciated.
Added an attacking ability that turns all red dice to hit to make it easier to test defensive set ups.
FWIW, the new layout still doesn't come across properly on my iPhone. It looks like the attacker and defender checkbox sections are on top of each other, and to make sure it wasn't an issue with just Safari I also tried Chrome and Firefox.
Thanks, I've made a few changes to the alternate layout.
How difficult would it be to add R4 astromech in? Basically thinking of the situation where you have a focus token and can use it with R4 as a focus, immediately get a TL which you can then spend on the attack. You don't get the TL until after you have already spent the focus so the odds aren't the same as a focus and a TL together.
I just checked it out quickly on my phone and the new mobile layout worked as intended. Thanks! And thank you for the tool, too. It's been a great help.
I think I can put in R4.
Just to add- mobile version seems to be working fine on my Android using the inbuilt Samsung browser.
Also, thanks for this, it's very informative.
Added R4 with a caveat. If you already have TL R4 won't trigger even if you spend a focus (no change to to-hit probability but to-keep TL will be lower than it should IF you already have TL).
@EdgeOfDreams
One of the ways to implement probability tools is to have the computer roll dice millions of times for a specific sitation (3 atk with predator vs 3 defense with autothrusters) and store the result. The upside is that since you already computed it, it will give you the result quickly. The downside is that whenever you add a new ability you'll have to spend plenty of time doing the pre-computations.
This tool computes the probabilities on demand.
So are you using matrix computation (which gives 100% correct numbers) or just simulating millions of rolls (which gives almost 100% correct numbers)?
Edited by WildhornIt just needs an option for those of us who flub every green roll.
Though I have to say, running the numbers against 3 greens with no modifications on the defensive end, I'm surprised. It's very hard to get more than 1 damage through per attack. It seems those evil greens are more productive than we thought!

It performs probabilistic calculations, not dice rolling.

Thank you very much! very helpful
Added Ibtisam and Zuckuss.
Added Ibtisam and Zuckuss.
Out of interest how are you calculating Zuckuss?
Is it forcing your opponent to reroll only successful rolls? Also does it take into account focus tokens that your opponent has, so for example if your opponent has a focus token does Zuckuss make them reroll eyeball results?
Yes, it forces the opponent to reroll evades or potential evades(focus if he has focus token) only. The only thing that is missing at the moment is the Ezra/Luke interaction. I'll put it in ASAP.
I use the multi result version with line chart all the time. Just want to give a huge thanks for making this tool available and frequently updated. It is very satisfying to know the exact odds when my ship has died from an unmodified range three shot through an asteroid.
Zuckuss now interacts with Ezra/Luke. Also improved Zuckuss and Juke interaction.
Fixed Ibtisam.
Improved interactions between AT and lone wolf, wired and Ezra/luke.
Crits are now calculated separately from regular hits.
To-hit and expected damage remain the same but additional information is shown:
- Crit Chance : shows the probability of having at least one uncancelled critical hit.
- Expected Crits : shows the average number of uncancelled critical hits.
Memory consumption has been drastically improved.
Computing time, however, has increased. This should only be noticeable on situations with multiple attacks and rerolls (e.g.: Han+Predator+Gunner) or in rolls with a lot of dice. On these occasions the browser may become unresponsive and after 30 seconds you will most likely receive an alert from your browser. If you press continue it will (eventually) deliver the results.
This was a big change so there might be some hiccups.
More crit-related abilities, such as autoblasters, will be added soon (hopefully).
For now enjoy!
it'd be nice to see Han Solo the crew, not the pilot. I calculated it from the binomial distribution and conditional probabilities in a google spreadsheet but it seems I have some rounding errors: 1. for 4 attack dice my probabilities add to 1, but for 5 dice they don't exactly do and 2. my results for Luke are the same as yours for the 2nd digit but not if I round off at the 3rd.
