ANY NEW games starting?

By theclash24, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I played a grand total of 3 games. 3...and I've GM'd a grand total 3.

The major issue came down to commitment with both. When I played I couldn't commit to the distance and time...the group was really good but I just couldn't continue the trip at the distance. I joined a great online game but it slowly fell apart due to time commitment as well.

When I GM'd it was fun but that fell apart as commitment to brother in law had a varied work schedule, the other 2 were a couple and one went with the other and when one started school it was 'no show' for both. The last was my wife who wanted to keep playing but we had no one really available. (not all our friends have a like for rpgs or games)

I would love to play again. I'm still very new to the system, not RPGs in general though. Any new games with newbies going down?

Looks like that's 7 game on Roll20 (as of this post) that are open to new players.

thank you very much :)

Good luck!

If you're still looking, I am about to start up a campaign next Saturday. Or Sunday, depending on where you live.

I can bring in just one more person before the table starts to bend under its own weight.

Game would be on Roll20, mic is needed.

Game time is Saturday, 5:00PM Mountain Time (GMT -6).

Characters won't be made until after the first session. We'll be using pre-gens for the first one.

If you are interested, Play by Post does a great job with time commitments. Folks who can grab 20 minutes two times a day can still advance the story at a good pace.

I'm planning to start up an (off-site: RPOL.net) PbP runthrough of Beyond the Rim in the fairly near future, if you are interested. No problem with newbies joining up at all :D

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, I'm starting a new game next week.

But it's with 10-11 year olds.
And it's at a school.

And only open to students at the school.

And it's in Sweden...

You did ask for ANY new games :D

This past week, I took over for Stuart in running his F&D campaign at “Whose Turn Is It? Games” here in Austin, on South Lamar. We try to start at 7pm on Thursday nights.

I don’t know how long I’ll be running the game, but we currently have three players, and we could stand to have one or two more.

I really wish that we could get a separate forum here for PbPs...better yet, one for each major product (in the case of Star Wars, a single forum devoted to all of the PbPs for EotE, AoR, and FaD). I think that it'd make it easier both for the PbPers as well as the discussion boards.

We tried contacting a webmaster early on for a separate section for PbPs, but we did not get a response.

I can't, in good conscience "Like" this, but I'm glad to know there's others who share my desire for a PbP section. I'm mildly surprised that there was no response. It seems like it'd be dead easy for them to create another forum if they wished, and just as easy to respond and explain why not (or don't explain at all) if they didn't.

As one who emailed them, I can surmise that perhaps they get lots of emails and requests, and are only able to do so much. If they said enacted everyone's requests, it would likely lead to a very messy web presence and a cumbersome site :)

Not to say that I'm not disappointed :(

I have a Play by Post Star wars Game going on Rpol with a Spot or two still open for new players.

If your interested. just send me a message.

Not a fan of play by posts

Though maybe I'm giving it a bad light due to the fact that in the early 2000's play by posts were very immature and young style of gaming and wasn't probably what it is now.

I used to feel the same way. I have since revised my opinions in the last couple years.

I feel like maybe it was an old out dated style of role playing since technology to communicate across the world with HD cameras and cool gaming tools were there instead of typing.

Just like anything else, it's not the medium, it's the artist. PbP is no different now than it was then: it's just as hard to find a good group and a talented GM.

For me, most of my favorite games were PbPs from about 2004-2010, but the big thing that killed otherwise promising games or made good games great ones were the people. You need a GM that is *very* familiar with the lore and has a way to work the players in so that they feel they're impacting things, but to avoid letting them get carried away to the point thatblowing up a Star Destroyer is a casual thing that happens 2-3 times in every adventure.

The best games, to me, were ones where we the party were the people that got things done just off-camera. I remember a bitter skirmish with advancing Imperial forces during the battle of Hoth, where the large group of players were soldiers charged with holding an observation station critical for the proper aiming of the ion cannon. Sure, you never see this on-screen in ESB, but it was totally believable, and by the time our evac arrived, we really felt like we helped keep the Alliance alive to fight another day. In another game, I played a bothan diplomat in the Thrawn era, balancing my duty to my fellow bothans and my influential benefactor Borsk Fey'lya, with my duties to the Diplomatic Corps and the Republic in general, all the while tracking down people that could help identify and understand the mysterious Grand Admiral.

It's really important to be with a group that values the same things you do in a game. Nothing kills the fun more than a group where 4 people are all about interaction and personal development, and there's one who's just there to kill everything and blow up the planet.

Bluntly, PbP is my favorite style. It allows everyone to slow down and really think about their portrayal of their character, gives them time to express thought and describe things in detail...and it's done in a way that can be re-read for reference, inspiration, and fun.

I wish I could find a pbp game to get into. As of late my schedule has prevented me from doing more face to face or roll20 style gaming.

One has been mentioned in this thread.

Oh I didn't see a link to the game so I wasn't sure where to look. Unless there was one listed in the Roll20 link that was given earlier ....

Well lol It technically was directed at one particular user.. but.. It (I) said Message me if your interested. I run an RPOL PBP game.
