What would a Jedi Knight look like in Force and Destiny

By gandalf9700, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I just picked up Force and Destiny and thought, what would a Jedi Knight look like as far as careers, specializations and force powers. I was thinking finishing all of Counselor including all three specializations and probably finishing 3-4 Force Trees with a few other trees with ranks.

What would Luke Skywalker, Yoda or Obi Wann and for that matter Darth Vader.

Just curious as a way of comparison.

There's not going to be any one "path" to being a Jedi Knight.

Just looking at the Jedi of the prequels, while they all may have dressed in the same general style, if you delve into the Legends material behind many of them, you'll find they've got very different approaches to how they go about being Jedi.

About all you're going to find is common traits, such as the following:

- Lightsaber skill, at least 3 ranks

- Force Rating of at least 2 for a weaker Knight, but more likely 3.

- Multiple ranks in Parry and Reflect

- Sense power

- Ranks in Discipline, Knowledge (Lore), and Negotiation.

The fact that there a six different Lightsaber Form specializations is a strong indication that there's no "one true path" to becoming a Jedi Knight. As noted by Sam Stewart on the Force and Destiny episode of the Order 66 podcast, becoming a Jedi Knight in this system is less about meeting a series of mechanic-based requirements like it was in WotC's d20-based versions, but more of a narrative thing; Luke as an example only became a Knight when he confronted Vader and rejected the lure of the dark side, not because he had a specific Force Rating or X number of ranks in a given talent. And by the standards of the old Jedi Order, he'd probably still be considered a poorly-trained Jedi Knight that gets by more on sheer talent than actual skill, but because he'd undergone and passed his Trials, Luke would still be seen as a Jedi Knight.

I really have no desire to see any of the iconic characters stated personally, mainly because it would be largely subjective.

But I can tell you this, I decided last night to try and recreate an npc Inquisitor I had created, but using the pc rules. Using the same house rules us for PCs, the most efficient way i found to recreate all the values for the NPC required 920 XP after creation, which would have increased to approx 970 XP without the house rules. I would presume many of the iconics would be comparable or higher in XP expenditure.

In the back of F&D is a layout for making Inquisitors off the cuff. Cool thanks for the input on this. I agree I wouldn't want to see them all statted out either, just wondering what type of xp would be required.

I think Consular, particularly Niman Disciple fairly well encapsulate the 'typical' or archetypal Jedi Knight.

It's got all the basic Skills and Force Rating and decent saber use (later in the tree) and both Parry and Reflect.

I think an appropriate level of Force Rating depends on what force powers the character has. You can get away with a force rating 2 and still use many force powers pretty well.

Apologies for being unclear, what I meant was that I had created one using the NPC rules in the Adversary chapter of FaD and then tried to recreate it with the PC rules in the Character Creation chapter. To match the Characteristics, Skills, Talents, Force Powers from the Adversary creation process with the same rating in the Character creation process would take and additional 920 XP (House Rules) to 970 XP (RAW) beyond initial character creation. The Character creation version does have extra talents that the Adversary doesn't, since the Specialization Trees aren't pick and choose like the Adversary Lists, but I tried to find the most efficient paths to duplicate the numbers from the Adversary version.

Thanks,

Yeah I have been working through creating Vader just for fun through the character creation rules, and it would take a lot of experience!!!!, I think making the others would cost close to the same amount too. Not that I made him some insane beast, cause some people would want to give him like all 5's and some 6's. I feel even for vader that's a bit much. The highest I gave him was a 5 in brawn and it was only because of the cybernetics, and in Rebels it showed him with one hand able to pick up and throw Kanan, I mean he could of been using the force but , it didn't seem like it. Where as skills are concerned I gave a few 5's. Really the experience goes into buying the force powers he should have, and all the specialization tree's. I cant decide on his Career though (The Ace) or the (Engineer)? I decided on these two based on Episode I. Thoughts on this?
