Poe and Red Ace are some of the toughest small base ships around, especially when using shield regen droids. However, they only leave 25 points for a 3rd or 4th ship in the list.

For the last 25 points, I see a whole bunch of options, and I'm not sure what's the best one for this list.

Gold Squadron Ywing with TLT and R2

Tactition Operative TLT HWK and 1 point bid

Kyle Katarn with Autoblaster turret and Jan Ors

Blue squadron Bwing with FCS and 1 point bid

Blue Novice with R2 and Integrated Astro

Tarn Mison with R7 and integrated Astro

Hobbie Kilvan, Trading Poe and R.ace's autothrusters for IA and getting R2D6 and PTL on Hobbie. ("free" TL every round, clearing the PTL stress by spending the TL)

Green Squadron Awing with PTL and Juke, 1 point bid

There's probably even more, especially if I open up other builds to trading in AT for IA.

I'm fairly new to this so I can't say what's best but I have a couple of ideas..

You could go with Jan Ors for that extra 25 points? She's useful to help put the hurt on even if she is a little on the fragile side.

... Or if you'd rather 4 shield, hp and attack dice then a Tala and a Bandit Z95?

This could work too:

Gold (Ion Cannon Turret, R3-A2, BTL-A4 title) - 25 points

Just bring lots of stress tokens. :-)

Rookie with R3-A2 and Integrated Astromech and upgrade Adrenaline rush on Poe for Predator or Lonewolf.

Er, shouldn't you have 40 points still to play with? Or is this for a specific "85 point list" game?

I would probably up Poe to LW and add two Bandits or a Blue+FCS or Gold+TLT.

Actually yeah, TLT to help stay out of Poe's LW range.
