Best lists in (almost) untimed games?

By surly88, in X-Wing

We're currently playing a league within our team where everybody had to face each other, then the best 4 will play out finals. Right now we're done with the first part and will play finals next week.

You can build a new list every time you play and change as often as you want, however in the finals you have to play the same list you already played in your top 4 game.

So far so good :D

Just to get this right - although we play rather competitive there, it's mostly a fun event between friends. So we also play some not so serious lists for testing purposes for example during the qualification rounds.

Since the top 4 will be 90 minutes and the finals will be without time limit, we're currently discussing, which lists benefit the most from these changes. In the end probably everybody will play whatever he wants to that day, but it's nice theorize about it ;)

So long story short, what do you think which lists benefit the most out of playing almost without a time limit?

I have some thoughts about it, but would gladly hear your opinion on this before ;)

Cheers!

Swarms are always good

lists with regeneration can often benefit from extended time... I've had soontir vs corran last 3 hours...

At that point, just shake hands and walk away- That's a modified win, so it's essentially a tie. That match will generally go to Corran (Fel will struggle to punch through Evade+Regeneration, and will almost certainly fail to scratch Evade+Focus+Regeneration), but a competent Soontir player can draw it out so long trying to get the stars to align and overcome Corran's defensive abilities several turns in a row that it's not worth playing outside of a timed match or an elimination round*

*And I've seen elimination rounds where both players were absolutely sick of trying to overcome each others' defenses. And after midnight, that's grueling. Still, my hat off to both of the guys playing that match!

Full win in my list, I run a 54 point corran

Any combination of Corran, Miranda, Luke and Poe will do wonders in these conditions.

Stick 'em with the pointy end. Buzz around.

In a one on one end game scenario, even a PS 2 K wing with SLAM is strong. Unless of course you face another turret, you can SLAM to arc dodge until you get to a turn where you can fire and not get shot at.

Regeneration stuff. Hell, you bring your 48 point Corran up against 48 points of non-super ship and you've already won.

Fat Falcons.

Swarms players won't time themselves out by having to move 7-8 ships.

Interceptors, especially Turr + PTL vs. anything with less PS, can take just about any arc'd ship eventually. New FOs are similar in that they can win most easily by quicker or more optimal re-engagements.

A very cautious defender pilot can do the same.
