quick question on turr phenirs boost/barrel roll

I really should know the answer to this but just wanted to check im doing it right...

If i barrel roll turr phenir as his action, he takes a shot in the combat phase and gets a free boost or barrel roll... in this case i can only boost right as you cant do the same action twice even if its a card ability or free?

Or can he do a 2nd barrel roll.

I've always played it that he cant but i was just wondering...

Yes - as Turr's ability allows him to perform a boost or barell roll ACTION - and the rules do not allow the same action to be performed twice in a round - he would have to boost if he has already barrel rolled, or barrel roll if he has already boosted.

or do nothing as his ability is optional : "....MAY perform a free boost or barrel roll Action..."

Yeah thought that was the case, oddly its never come up until the other day as i've usually done one or the other then needed to do the remaining action.

Just checking in case he was an exceptional case, cheers.

Funkleton is correct, and what's interesting is you can actually PtL off that boost or BR you take, meaning he's one of the few people who can take post-combat actions.

Now i never thought of that either, thats cool... so theoreticaly if you'd done neither action in the activation phase you could 'post shot' boost and then barrel roll out the way! awesome

It could save you from any bombs someone managed to drop after his move, or mean that the person you shot at can't get a shot back. I feel Turr is really undervalued.

Absolutely agreed.

When not facing Turrets or PS 8+ pilots, he's far more survivable than Fel.

This is something I like to do against ships with a fixed arc. Focus for the attack and then after boost and barrel roll out of arc. Turrets and higher PS pilots can limit your ability to pull this off but it's still fun to watch the frustration of your opponent when you can do it.

And hell, Autothrusters mean you've got a dog in the fight vs Turrets again.

Moreover, you can boost/BR into R3 or out of arc against them, and PTL into an Evade as well.

You can also give him Experimental interface and squad leader and give another ship a mid combat action. I have run him like with a couple of PTL sabers and let one of them push off the free action given by squad leader. Very fun list to fly
