cleaning miniatures

simple green removes paint?? really that's news to me I use all the time to clean my model aircraft. granted they are painted with oil based paints. Its actually safer than many detergents. but if somebody on here actually has first hand knowledge of it stripping paint off a ship heed that advice.

Its actually the normal method for stripping acrylic paints off plastics. Its relatively safe.

It you have metal minis you can use stronger chemicals. (Oven cleaner does wonders on metals)

For tobacco? I might try a steamer to see if I could heat it a bit and go at it with a toothbrush. Careful though as heat will make plastics get all bendy.

Some of those will strip the paint off btw. I would not use simple green or acetone as they will pretty much take the paint right off.

I would also recommend getting the car cleaning products as they are made to be applied on surfaces without adverse reactions.

Didn't even see you stumble in here. Come play epic.

Use a mild detergent or windex diluted. I'd stay away from citrus based cleaners because of the oil. If your hollow ships fill with water, shake or drain the bulk of the water out then put in a sealable container with uncooked rice. The rice will dry them out faster than just air drying.

I've used a product called Purple Power. After being submerged for three days only the panel wash was removed. This should be enough to remove the smell of tobacco smoke. If there's smoke residue you may need to lightly scrub with a very soft brush. Check a drug store for a baby tooth brush. Those are usually pretty soft.
