Discussion for the above video battle report from Wednesday night showing what squadrons can do.
Fair warning there were multiple WM/H games going on as well so we pick up some audio from that.

What are your thoughts on Vader as a commander? Or anyone's thoughts on the matter.
Vader is ludicrous.
//signed//,
Dude who had a whale 1-shotted by Vader's ISD 2.
Glorious battle, The Emperor would be pleased. Though I wish the ISD could have opened up with it's full battery, that would have been awesome.
That has got to be one of the worst Rebs deployment I have seen. why angle away from his ships? I understand you are trying to skirt, but you could tell from the get go that u would not got shoots off till rounds 3 or 4 and just run out of time. Not enough rounds of attacking to kill imperial SDs. I do like the speed 3 from neb but you needed to speed up sooner and get more shoots at his back. Great vid!

Matt (DarkJeebs) and I talked at length and the MC-30 needs to flank in the same ways Demolisher does and the neb needs to get to the fight faster. I think the same list with Akbar over GBI may swing that game to his favor with a similar deployment.

Yea the nice thing about squadrons is I engage on my terms.

He is a lot of points and I think if i am going for an all ship build he will be an option
Great video! Hope you post more
That is the plan
Have you considered investing in a laser line projector? Its the best. You can pick one up for like $20 and it allows you to check for LOS and arc without getting hands and rulers in the mix that can nudge and tip things and its way more accurate than a piece of cardboard.
My limited experience with Vader so far is he's an amazing commander for ships with lots of dice being thrown around. Gladiators, ISDs, VSD front arcs all get to really maximize damage output and rarely have many blanks after a Vader reroll.

Awesome video, BergerFett, and a great game! I love seeing people play with the full potential of squadrons, and those six squad activations from the ISD are downright scary.
Question for you about your list: how necessary do you feel all your anti-squadron tech is? Between Howlrunner, two Interceptors, and Flight Controllers, you've got a lot of points invested in just taking down other squadrons. I know you said in your blog that you're toying with the option of dropping FCs for Gunnary Team, but even still, it strikes me as a lot of points. Do you tend to face a lot of squadron-heavy lists that necessitate that kind of tech?

It was in the car...... it was my Warmachine Bag. So yes I have considered investing in one. Actually 2, I had one with me at GenCon a few years ago and it got burgled.

Agreed. I wonder if Raiders with expanded launcher tubes will be able to get into the back zone reliably and benefit from Vader.

Thanks. It comes down to a few things. Interceptors with Howlrunner and Flight Controllers is 6 dice... that is just fun. With Rogues and Villains having 7hullpoints pretty commonly, I could see the necessity of the combos. However, it may be over kill. I do not see a lot of squadrons, and if I do it is usually only 4-6 stands. Even at 300pts I had 8 stands of fighters and could stand to throw away 2 Interceptors to get alpha'd let them counter and then retaliate and outright win air supremacy. Right now I do not have to pinch points, and do not own certain upgrade cards I am tempted to use (SW-7s) so the flight controllers seems fine. When wave2 hits for realsies, I will have more choices to make.
Great video, although those guys in the background playing whatever the hell it was they were playing annoyed the hell out of me. I tried to ignore it and focus on the game, but oh man I wanted to reach through time, space and the internets and be like "SHUT UP BRO! I'M WATCHING STAH WAHS!"

we play on warmachine hordes night so it will be an issue for recordings. last week no one was their which would have been perfect for playing. they also like to take every other table so no matter where we set up there is a game right next to us.

Yeah, fo sho. This is definitely a good time to experiment. And you really did have total air superiority. Unless you opponent invests just as heavily into squads as you are, I'd imagine you probably wipe all their squads in a singe alpha activation most of the time. That pretty much means you get whatever value your opponent brought in squads as victory points right off the bat, which isn't too terrible assuming they have 20+.

R+V will determine if i keep flight controllers in my list and try to get another card and go double FC. It will depend on thier popularity. It may also mean dropping 1 Tie for a 4th Interceptor.
Nice video.
What was the game mat you all used made from?
its a yoga mat lol
