By homedrone, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm not sure the Battle of Endor would be a great game experience. I think I saw some suggestion that the rebel fleet was like 10-20% the size of the empire ships. It's only because the Emperor asked the Star Destroyers to hang back so he could show off the Death Start that the rebels were not "tabled". You could play something where the imperials can't advance, and the rebels start losing ships to the Death Star at some point. But the tension was in whether Han would get the shields down, and if so, how long would it take. You could make that into some die roll, maybe a little fun.

But I think a game of Armada with a game of Imperial Assault or X-wing going on at the same time, where events on the smaller game would have impact on the larger game might be a thrilling experience.

Like, a small group of rebels are trying to get word out that their fleet needs reinforcements. They play an X-wing game, and when they get across their map, new rebel forces hyperspace in on the Armada board.

There is a challenge is finding a balance of time conversion. Do you just let all the games play as usual..and when event X happens in the smaller game, effect Y starts taking effect in the Armada game, or is it that you play 1 Armada turn, then 5 X-wing/Imperial Assault tuns.. or something. I dunno how that would all work well. Also, the Armada game effect might need to be something that gets stronger the later it happens, so that if it happened on the last turn, it could be a deciding factor, but if it happened early, the other side still has some chance to survive.

Anyone toyed with anything like this yet?

Emperor Palpatine: Cost (50) *Cannot be placed on a small sized ship

When an enemy ship activates ouside small-medium range of one of your ships, add a victory token to that ship. If a ship aquires 4 victory tokens, destroy that ship.

This makes it so rebels cannot sit back at long range and forces engagements. This also prevents a 6-7 raider imperial fleet from hiding since to use the Emperor, you must use a medium/Large ship.

The down side is having 1/8th of your fleet point cost for this forced engagement tool. Still, it's a cinematic way of adding the deathstar with just a new Imperial commander

I would hope that there could be a campaign manual or something in the future, although I really wouldn't be able to handle paying for a whole other FFG product.
