Dial Upgrade kit announced!

Each Maneuver Dial Upgrade Kit provides three sculpted plastic dials that proudly display the affiliation of your current squadron with one of the three X-Wing factions. To use one of these plastic maneuver dials, simply take the cardboard dial token showing a ship’s maneuvers and insert it into the secure plastic housing. Once situated, you can place the plastic maneuver selection marker into place, and you’re ready to fly your ship with style.

to no one's surprise =P

Soon, every X-Wing expansion will include a dial ID token for you to use with your plastic maneuver dials if you so choose. These will begin with the Ghost Expansion Pack, the Mist Hunter Expansion Pack, the Punishing One Expansion Pack, and the Inquisitor’s TIE Expansion Pack. Standard cardboard maneuver dials will still be included in each expansion.

The upgrade kits weren't officially announced by an article on FFG's website until just now, though.

Yeah, but that doesn't have the official annoucement.

The thing I like best about these is that you can actually see the ship class on the back of it. In a furball, it makes it much easier to remember which dial belongs to Soontir and which belongs to Vader.

And this matters....why? Why click on the thread if you think it's something that's already been covered to your satisfaction? Why take the time to type out a post that, presumably, is a complaint about 3 seconds of your life being "wasted" by a post that you feel didn't provide you any new information?

This is a forum dedicated to little plastic space ships and the high fantasy film and fiction that they're sourced in - people are supposed to be excited about this stuff! Is it really so obnoxious if, in their excitement, they neglect to perform an exhaustive search of the content on this forum to make sure there's nothing that's being repeated?

Does anyone have any idea whether the cardboard dials will be able to easily slip in and out? Or do you need one for every every ship?

Since I don't have Armada, I have no idea what it takes to assemble and disassemble the plastic dials.

NOT announced on a Friday or Monday. This is encouraging!

The part in the middle that highlights the manouvre just pops out. So you can easily do that.

But the ID token, no idea as Armada doesn't have that part.

I'd still want to know if the ID token will be mandatory? I'd just as soon label the dials 1,2,3,4 to match up with the tombstones on my ships.

These look just like the Armada dials, and those are super easy to (dis)assemble.

Wow that's the news we get? They look pretty cool and all but I'd kinda like some news about wave 8 despite the flood of articles from the core set and the new ships added to wave 8.

Yeah, this dial are cool, but i wish there was a way to insert a number token on the dial. The main problem where dial mix up happens is usually in swars, now i have differentiate them by painting a small line with a brush, like an ANIMAL!!

Exactly. No news of any note in several weeks and then an announcement for $10 dial upgrades. Sure, why not turn a $15 ship into a $25 ship? Did FFG just hire the Games Workshop marketing team?

They mention in the article that each new expansion will have an idea token starting with the Ghost, etc. Interesting as well.

Anyone have tips on how to pry open a dial?

It's an underwhelming announcement to be sure, but to be fair it's turning a $15 ship into a $18 ship, as they come three to a pack for your $10.

cuz dat syck dial so sick i gotta sik protection on em.

Hey there Chicken Little.

So happy to see a scyk silhouette in the article! That's about the extent of my excitement for these at the moment.

The current ones?

A chisel works well; it lets you apply upward pressure to pop off the top half of the plastic piece without doing any damage to the cardboard. I suspect any beveled wedge would work equally well (even, like, a filed down popsicle stick or something equally cheap and disposable).
