Thought I would throw my painting attempts up here as well.

I like the red edging on the Vic a lot. I might have to steal be inspired by that.
Great stuff and well done. Glad I'm not the only one prone to smoking while painting.
Lovin' the Consular and the Pelta!
Nuln Oil wash to darken the plates of the VSD?
Nuln Oil wash to darken the plates of the VSD?
yes. It was a very old pot, so it dried a little fast and thick, but the effect grew on me.
looking at that 3D printed stand, it makes me wonder:
Could you just buy a VSD, then sell the ship and the cards as individuals on E-bay and get the stand for free?
I wouldn't be surprised if someone would pay $10 USD for a flight controllers card alone.
I use the stands for painting, just swaping out arms for play at the moment. I am working on making it functional as well though. If FFG isn't going to make additional stands available like they did for x-wing, I may need to do some testing with resin casts for my own use. I have plans of scratch building a Torpedo sphere in the near future, so I will need additional large bases.
Mel's ships and bases are great, but very light, some additional material may need to be added to give the base sufficient weight for the rigors of play. I can't recommend the squadron bases, the stands are perfectly durable, but the bases are too thin to allow you to turn the damage wheel without twisting the peg in the mount.
I have mentioned before that all my ships pull double-duty for both Armada, and as props for my Star Wars D6 campaign. If I get time I will attempt to wright up bios for each ship as it appears in the campaign.
Once DA has plowed his way through his to do list I'll see if he is willing to make me a few title cards and ace squadrons to represent my PCs & NPCs.
I like the paint jobs, but isn't it a little strange to have the rebels and imperials in the same grey and red colour scheme? I know all Star Wars ships are grey in the movies, but it just seems too uniform for me.
Did you paint your squadrons? I'm munching through my TIE swarm at the moment, and it is a real uphill struggle. Almost as bad as painting tyranid chaff, lol.

Love the GSD. The best looking of the lot, imho.
I assume the Venator, Consular and Pelta are Shapeways constructions. From which producer did you acquire those beautiful pieces?
I sharpied and nulin oiled a litle over half of them. I have only recently started painting the Shapeways fighters. More pictures will come as I get them done.
Next up a test paint of one of the Jedi starfighters, a V-wing test, a Z95 Headhunter test the YT 2000, the Lambda Shuttle, & the Mobquet Medium Hauler.
I also need to post some pics of my 4x6 battle mat.
Found an industrial floor mat at Lowe's, and spritzed some stars and nebulae on what was intended to be the bottom. Makes for a nice no slip surface. Only downside is tjat it weighs ablot 30 lbs.

I love the effect. I am thinking something like this for my damaged GSD and VSD
For the VSD panels, would it be better to use black sharpie or "lovingly" paint them using brush?
Black sharpie leaves an iridescent look to surfaces in full light. I like the effect on the TIE panels, but I'm not sure how it would go over on the top of a VSD in full light.
For doing individual panels on ships or trim on the VSD I dry brush it on with minimal paint to preserve details. Incomplete coverage ends up looking like intentional weathering.
Your ships, are they spray painted or hand painted?
The Pelta and Venator are from Mel, and the Consular is from Utar (Space supply depot).I assume the Venator, Consular and Pelta are Shapeways constructions. From which producer did you acquire those beautiful pieces?

Good old mel. Those are beautiful models and well painted.
Your ships, are they spray painted or hand painted?
I hand painted them. the only spray I use is a mix of satin and mat clear coats to get the reflective highlights I want with the end product, without having the final paint look wet.

The lighting in the shots is not the best. but the Rebel ships are all done in Bone White with a dark grey and blood red details.. The style is modeled after the Neb B that came in the core set.
On that vein, here are the pics of my new MC30, better pics of my AFMK II, along with some squadron pics.

Here are a few more of the MC30. I went with my standard bone white again, that was the best place I could think of to put the red trim... I'm still not sure if it is smiling at me or not.
I also added some better pics of my Consular Class, and my Imperial version of the Neb B.
Enjoy.
