Named Swarm

Howlrunner w/ Squad Tactics

Mithril Mauler w/ Wingman?

Backstabber

Dark Curse

Night Beast

Black Squadron

I've been trying to come up with squads to go up against TLTs and Brobots. This still gives me a swarm of sorts, with most having a special ability to call upon. Keep them as close as possible and rush/concentrate fire on one ship at a time as much as you can.

No love for Winged Gundark... :(

I'd drop the Black Squadron if you're not going to put an EPT on him and replace him with an Obsidian. Against four TLT's PS3 is enough and against Brobots PS4 and PS3 are the same thing. Do you have a plan that has to have Wingman on Mauler? Don't forget you don't have to spend all 100 points. If you're set on using the Black Squadron I'd pop Draw Their Fire on him and drop Wingman on Mauler. Brings you in at 99pts for a tiny initiative bid which could be useful if the Brobots are not rocking VI.

I run with good success,

Howl w/ Stealth Device

Mauler

Backstabber

Winged Gundark

I don't think Howl with Swarm Tactics will lend you much benefit. Without something to help her survive she goes out quick. Hull Upgrade is the math choice, but I like Stealth Device for when I get lucky!

Wingman is an interesting choice but I don't think it benefits the swarm. If you want a stress removal tool then I'd suggest running a Tie/fo Epsilon Leader, which would be the same points as your Mauler with Wingman. Not quite as offensive but if you're looking for that stress removal tool it serves you better being able to affect the whole swarm.

Brobots is tough for tight swarms. You want to open up the field and not play too close. Keeping separation is the only way to limit their arc dodging.

For TLT's a named swarm like you are thinking is alright because at least you get to shoot first. Work their doughnuts and focus fire. Total game of attrition so hope your dice are working better than theirs.

When flying in a tight 6 ship swarm really work those 90 degree turns. Your soft banks will only get you into trouble.

I'm not especially tied to anything. I'm just wondering if it's valid. I was trying to avoid PS 1 swarms, but really I'm looking for something to go up against the TLT meta and Brobots.

My usual 999s are suffering a bit with all the turrets (have two players who love 1300+2400), but I think they are both running 4 Golds this weekend.

No love for Winged Gundark... :(

I would roll Winged Gundark out as well. With Mauler and Winged getting in at range can make sense with Howl's rerolls.

An interceptor with auto thrusters (or 2) gets a lot mileage against TLTs

A thousand times this. 4x AT Alphas with Howl is so fun.
