4 Player idea

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

Suppose you do a 4-player format - have each player bring 300 points. Each player also brings a different commander! Think of the combinations! Mon Mothma and Ackbar? Screed and Tarkin?

Granted 300 points each MIGHT be a bit too much. maybe 250? But the whole double commander thing would be awesome.

It's in the back of the rules reference.

There is nothing on commanders though so it's up to how you want to play.

Double commanders eh? That just made it into my house rules document. Thanks Crabbok!

I like the idea that a flag ship also needs a title, not only a commander ... when we are talking about house rules.

a 2vs2 with 300 points each player is fun. Don't take less points.

4 vs would be a hoot.

I think 100 per person in this is a sweet spot.

In our house league,we play 2 v 2 quite often and have found 300 points/player is plenty to have great battle....usually 9 rounds max, unless playing a death match.(We only use one commander per fleet though)

In my 2 vs 2 matches, we do 400 puts per person and it's insanely crazy! (In a good way)

Played 2 vs 2 as low as 150 and as high as 500. Fun every time.(but more fun if each player has 300 points or more) you just need a bigger table and longer game when you have more then 800 total points on the table.

I'm actually dying to try this.

How do you guys find it is best to handle activations 2 on one side then 2 on the other? or alternating turns? Are there any imbalance concerns when activating more than 2 players?

Is a 6x3 table enough? Do you straight up double the # of rounds? What about objectives?

I would think 6x3 works but you allow players to setup closer to the edge, so range 3 of the left and right edges, instead of range 5.

I do 1 person at a time, with the same number of rounds and objectives. The only problem with extending the number of rounds is how long the game will take. You have to take into consideration how many more ships are moving and attacking each round.

So long as you allow free titles that grant no bonuses that requirement seems fine.

For myself, I can't justify spending points on the VSD titles.

I am working on making my own title cards for my ships, though. For extra personalization and flavor.
