I'm starting Beyond the Rim tonight with my group and I'm just wondering how to actually say "Sa Nalaor". I've been reading it as "sah-nah-LAY-or". Is there a consensus on this?
How to pronounce "Sa Nalaor" from Beyond The Rim
Sounds about right to me, and honestly, as long as you sound confident in whatever pronunciation you pick, you're good to go.
I've heard it/said it:
Sah Nalla Or
Sah Na lour
I like your pronunciation too.
Sah Nah Lah Oar.

When I ran BTR, this was how I pronounced it.
Come to think of it. I talked to Sterling Hershey a few times since running this game, I should have asked the writer himself.
Text to speech pronounces it sah NAL-ur, fwiw. At the gaming table, we pronounced it SAH nuh-lor.
Will Disney send hordes of ewoks after us if we said it wrong?
The "ao" diphthong automatically maps to "hour" for me, but Star Wars pronunciation isn't exactly consistent
. For example, the pronunciation of Zygerria in the Clone Wars vacillates between the hard and soft g.
I read it as "Sah Nah-Lore".
Well there is a certain language difficulty among us, isn't it? I'm German for example and we pronounced it /sɑ́ nalaor/ which seems to work fine. Bascially "Sa nah-lah-or."
The IPA agrees as well. It's a minor detail for sure, but I really like that you try to make the world feel as immersive as possible.
Then again you could always say "It is described to you like X, you don't know if it's accurate". Handwave-y but functional.
I think I'm pretty happy with my interpretation then.
On a related note, the adventure so far has been great, it seems to have something for everyone.

You could even go so far as to say that every person you talk to who has knowledge of the mission, pronounces it a different way — and use all the examples given above. Even the same people sometimes pronounce it different ways at different times.
So, it’s not at all clear what the “correct” pronunciation is.
We used Sha Na Na Lore.
