Advice on Keyan + Etahn list

By Phoenix8472, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have just got back into X-Wing having not played since first wave, and I am looking to get better at making "strong but fun" builds. I especially love clever combos!

After a bit of research I am keen to try a powerful B-Wing build with my new favourite E-Wing. I know E-Wings don't appear to be tournament material currently but I really want to use my new purchase!

My list currently stands as

B-Wing: Keyan Farlander /Heavy Laser Cannon/E2/Kyle Katarn/Opportunist (44)

E-Wing: Etahn A'baht/Veteran Instincts/Advanced Proton Torpedoes (41)

A-Wing: Prototype Pilot/Chardaan Refit (15)

100 points

So I love Etahn's ability with APT, as if you are focussed then you are guaranteed an automatic critical when up to 3 blanks become focuses (foci?), they all become hits and his ability turns one hit into a critical. Boom

Keyan has a nasty powerful combo, especially if you can use Opportunist then you get a stress token to roll 5 dice for HLC (at long range, with no bonus defense as its a secondary weapon), use Keyan's ability to remove the stress and turn focus into hits and Kyle Katarn gives us a free focus token for defensive purposes. And because the HLC downgrades any criticals immediately after rolling, it can then be modified (as per the FAQ) so if Etahn is in range his ability upgrades a hit into a critical again [cue evil emperor laugh]

The advice I seek from the wisdom of the forums:

You can obviously see that the A-Wing is pure filler, but I don't think I would stand a chance as just a two-small-ship build so what could be changed or rearranged to make this list survive long enough to pull off its combat tricks?

I really like the E-Wing so I wouldn't want to lose it, but can it be a casually-competative build?
