Yeah, short range as they may be those new dropships are incredibly well armed.

That's not without precedent, either, as the assault gunships used during the Clone Wars were also very heavily armed: Two chin-guns, two door guns, two guns in the wings, two missile launchers, and a rear-mounted gun.

I think the only one that's probably a lock is the special forces tie. The new shuttle is a possibility, though it would be a huge model unless the wings can contract like the lego model. It looks like at best there might be one other new fighter in the movie, and if that's the case it would be a strong candidate as well.

Unless Rebels adds more starfighters, probably not drawing from there the next wave.

Obviously the fan favorite assault gunboat would seem to be the most likely EU choice. But the fact they haven't added it yet means perhaps they really are sticking to TIE only models for small ships. Missile boat seems pretty unlikely at this point as it would be almost exactly the same as the punisher. However they did add the slam mechanic to the k-wing, so that might be a good sign. Any other EU ships would be a shot in the dark for what they would choose to use.

Then of course there's always the option to add prequel and/or clone wars ships. I'm gonna go out on a optimistic limb and say we get at least one ship from this era next year, more likely in a later wave than wave 9 though.

And with Star Wars Rebels Blood Sisters, the Scurrg H-6/Havoc/Shadow Caster is almost a shoo-in.

Pretty sure that thing is just an airspeeder, though it might be a small unarmed shuttle.

the U-wing looks kinda silly and ugly - and to me, is the only thing that looks "starwars-y" enough in these concepts

That said, I'm still holding out hope for:
