A-Wing Vs. Tie Interceptor

I say stick more closely to the "Deadliest Warrior" idea. Like the show, it's more about entertainment than facts. Make comparisons for fun and see what shakes out after the scores are tallied. Firepower? Interceptor wins with 3 dice. Armament options? A-Wings chuck Prockets down your throat while Interceptors get... Targeting Computers? Point for A-Wings. Keep it light-hearted, have fun with it, and I look forward seeing the results!

This.

If you haven't seen deadliest warrior, you're probably not going to get what OP is thinking

While you see Tie interceptors in more lists than A-wings, you see more different kinds of A-wings flown, and they're both used in plenty of lists.

I think the A-wing is a broadly more successful game design than the interceptor, which is almost always Soontir Fel, or maybe Carnor Jax if you want a second one.

Well if you're doing it deadliest warrior style you'll do things like tie Phantom vs Wright flyer. That said the a wing is an interceptor with training wheels.

I tried doing something like this awhile back. I called it X-Wing Madness - had all the ship types in a bracket - march madness style. It ended up being super boring, because it usually boiled down to just rolling dice. I couldn't really maneuever against myself, especially in a 1 on 1 dogfight.

So here's what im thinking for catagories ( I started filming yesterday btw) Firepower, Survivability, mobility, Adaptability (upgrades and stuff), support. I think Green dice and HP will both be in the Survivabilty catagory, or I put green dice in with mobility, and call it evasivness. but I think green dice go better with HP than movement.

Yeah, that's exaclty what I was thinking, maybe let the viewers vote. but im stil thinking about it.

If you're going to spend 20 points on a Scyk to give it a Mangler, at least give the Alpha Autothrusters to put them at the same cost. That removes some of the Scyk's advantage at range 3 but at range 1 the Interceptor does better damage.

So Alpha with Autothrusters, Cartel Spacer with Mangler, and Green with Refit and Push the Limit. I think I'd put my money on the A-Wing, actually.

It's not about them fighting each other is it? It's about discussing their strengths and weaknesses in different areas.

yes, exactly.

Might be worth breaking down the areas in a more X-Wing specific style - maybe "bomber", "end-gamer", "tank", etc?

well, I am trying to compare ships that generally serve the same purpose. In this case, Im comparing two Arc Dodgers.

Ah, I see - you're kind-of doing the categorisation I mentioned before picking the ships to compare. I get ya.

So it'll be things like this?

"Offence:

Interceptor has three dice, A-Wing has prockets. Prockets are good in x situation, which is/isn't common in certain metas, while Interceptor has fairly reliable damage output (and can take Targeting Computer to make it better). Interceptor has pilot A who adds blah, A-Wing has pilot B who adds blah, they have y mods/titles available, etc"

maybe not put that way, but yes.
