I've been playing for about 8 months and am still getting my head around free action interactions.

On the R7-T1 astromech card, do I have to be in an enemy arc to take the free boost, OR just have an enemy ship at range 1-2?

The "if you are inside the ship's firing arc you may acquire a target lock on that ship." is what is causing me the problem. It doesn't appear to set the "inside firing arc" condition on the free boost action. Is that correct?

The way the card works is that you are in the enemy's firing arc at range 1-2.

Then, you may take a target lock. You may then take a free boost action.

The FAQ states that the target lock does not have to be taken in order for you to take the boost.

But the rest isn't touched upon, and so I would say do what the card says. Firing arc AND range 1-2. Not either/or.

I can see why you might read it that way, but no: you need to be both at Range 1-2 of an enemy and within their firing arc for any of R7-T1's effects to work.

yep, the worst wording on a card by far. I don't think anyone has read it and got it right. Just have to refer to the faq.
