Nah, I don't think so, particularly not with Wave 2 hitting soon. Depends if you particularly want to run swarms of the small ships, in which case it's no doubt better than buying them separately (though you'll still want the expansions for the unique card).
Mind you, having a shorter manoeuvre tool is handy, plus you'll certainly need extra dice...
Ack!!! more stuff to collect now!! just orderd TWO core sets. figured at that price i may need a second set to sell to a friend to get a group started!! Now i just need to wait for a "Raider" deal of the day!!! I have one all ready but since I have TWO tantives. I might as well get another..
the general buylists I read regarding Armada, contained 1 core set, 1 of each wave 1 expansion (or the faction you want to play) and 1 set of extra dice.
Some people bought 2 core sets, but the problem with the game is that the core set is expensive and you'll want unique cards that are only in the expansions (which ain't cheap either and you're unlikely to field 3 VSD in one game (not to mention the swarm of ties and x-wings, where you rather have the bombers from the fighter packs).
Especially when wave 2 hits, chances are slim you'll field 3 nebulon b's either.
I mean before i found folks to play X-wing with i all ready had a sizable collection of basicly ships that i never used. i just started collecting them becouse i thought they were cool looking..lol i also know nothing Of Armada and will be jumping over to their web page for info shortly..lol

Shucks! I really want to get this game, but up to now prices and the fact that I did not have all ships I wanted in x-wing have deterred me. Now that I finally have all ships I want in x-wing, this comes up... I just have to get it
