Two stage tournament list idea.

By TylerTT, in X-Wing

This game is full of neat upgrades that function as counters to particular styles of ships. This is really clear with secondary weapon upgrades. a weapon that ignores evade tokens will be worthless against some targets and fantastic against others. We rarely see these upgrades in play.

So my thought was to try an event where players prepared a single list of pilots. And two or three different lists of upgrades. At the start of a match players would give eachother their list of pilots and then with that information choose one of their upgrade lists.

Thoughts?

In principle interesting; in practice I guess this mostly favors very specific ships who can reward such versatility - Soontir Fel is not known for his flexibility, but a Decimator is certainly capable of it. Or a Falcon. Or Bossk. Or an Aggressor.

... Notice a pattern here?

The key is that other than certain high-tech aces, it's mostly big ships that get to rearrange their capabilities based on upgrades. Many smaller ships do so primarily by swapping out pilots.

Though I suppose Y-wings could dance between TLT and IonHogs, or the like.

I was mostly thinking about missiles, torpedos and bombs. They are all priced as if they were shooting at their best possible targets.

Maybe have the primary list be the ships instead of the pilot?
