Is this Rebel list look any good?

By brystrom1, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

So I'm a few months removed from the game (just had to get into X Wing) but I did take second in a regional running an RGC/RGx2/Officerx4 list back in May. Looking to run Rebels next time I manage to find a skirmish game and came up with this.

Luke and his Droids | 40

Rebel Saboteur

Rebel Saboteur

▪ Luke Skywalker

Elite Rebel Trooper

▪ C-3PO

▪ R2-D2

▪ Gideon Argus

▪ Rebel High Command

▪ Balance of the Force

Command Cards

------------------------

Element of Surprise

Explosive Weaponry

Explosive Weaponry

Fleet Footed

Focus

Lock On

Planning

Rally

Slippery Target

Slippery Target

Strength in Numbers

Take Initiative

Son of Skywalker

Maximum Firepower

Terminal Network

11 figures, 7 activations lots of focus options and the possibility of getting most of my command deck in hand early. Anything I'm missing or forgetting about?

Derp. Screwed up the topic title, now I sound unedumacated.

No expert here but personally I'd want to spend the points you spent on Rebel High Command, Balance of the Force, and R2 on figures that can actually attack. You're putting 6 points there into upgrades for your command deck which means your command cards are really going to have to be powerful and useful to keep you of the back foot.

Personally, I prefer the Elite Rebel Saboteurs over the gray ones so for a quick tweak I'd spend 4 of those 6 points on upgrading those 2 groups to Elite.

Yep, only use gray Saboteurs if you've already got two Elite Saboteurs in your squad.

10 Luke

9 Elite Troopers

7 Elite Sabs

7 Elite Sabs

3 Gideon

2 C3P0

2 Rebel High Command

That's pretty solid.

I'm split between the list thereisnotry posted and the following:

10 Luke
7 Elite Sabs
7 Elite Sabs

5 Sabs

5 Jyn
3 Gideon
2 C3P0

1 Balance of the Force

I tried both out last night, and was not happy with the performance of the Rebel Troopers vs what I could have done with Jyn and the regular Sabs. Plus, with more Sabs, you have a greater opportunity to use Spy/Heavy Weapon command cards. Using the regular Sabs, I skunked my opponent, but to be fair he changed lists as well, and his second list was... suboptimal.

Regular Sabs are better than Jyn.

Regular Sabs are better than Jyn.

Care to tell us why? They do pretty different things. Jyn is more durable (on a pet figure basis) and mobile, has the same number of attacks, but hits a little less hard and is only one figure.

I think that is the point, per figure- sure she is better. But, you are getting 2 figures- with blast- for less points. I disagree on the hits less hard.

Huh. Actually go Sab spam, and replace Jyn with another squad of regular Sabs? Interesting. I have to admit, I really like the ability to Hair Trigger and control someone's activation (parking her near an unactivated officer is hilarious). But I've also seen firsthand (and used myself) the ability to block her LOS to unactivated figures and thus deny that ability.

Regular Sabs are better than Jyn.

Care to tell us why?

There are some problems with that analysis (I know it's not yours): in the offensive category Hida used Max Firepower as a decider, but did not include One in a Million, which would allow Jyn to Stun or do a bunch of damage with no recourse from the target. Additionally, while it is true that Sabs have a higher max damage, 2 greens with the outstanding surges will put out similar if not more damage on average than a Regular Saboteur.

In a purely subjective manner as well, I've generally seen that regular Sabs die very quickly while Jyn is very survivable for her point cost.

In my opinion, the problem is, that 2 Saboteurs have 2 attacks. If your opponent's positioning is good, Jyn has only one attack per turn.

Jyn doesn't die as fast as one Saboteur, but faster than two Saboteurs.

Add in Luke: The two attacks from the Saboteurs with Luke's reroll deal a lot more damage than one attack from Jyn including the reroll.

Add in focus from Gideon and/or C-3PO: ...

I'm not saying, that they are better in any sitiuation, but at least in my opinion they are better on average.

How often do you actually get to use Slippery Target? I can only ever seem to get it to trigger against Vader. I'm otherwise stunned or being "reached".
