In my meta, squadrons are doing just fine. Why not in yours?

Ouch, snappy comeback!

I've said this in other threads. One of the main problems is that to have a credible threat, you need a critical mass of Ys, Bs, or TIE Bombers (prior to wave 2) and without those particular squadrons to punish all-ship lists, the all-ship lists will run wild. So my theory is that particularly in the smaller metas its quite possible people only bought one of each expansion and simply don't have enough of the special squadrons to really make a difference. So people try to use X-wings and TIE fighters, fail, and write squadrons off all together.

Now back to the important Topic.

Boba Fett is THE MAN! Sure he doesn't really do anything, but thats WHY he's badass. It's the dream of all of us Fett fans that all we have to do in life to be successful is get a really cool suit of armor THAT FLIES, and then stand around and look tough. Why NOT use Vader to get Solo? Look how Greedo ended up. I'll use Sith all day long for my own purposes. That never backfires!

Only because we know each other in real life and play all the time :)

Don't worry, I got that from your post :D

I certainly think you're right about bombers requiring a critical mass to be effective, and it may be that the metas in which they're not effective, people have not brought enough to the table to prove their worth. As a result, people are underinvesting in squadrons, both in buying the expansions and then spending the points.

While I agree that this is more likely to happen in a small meta than in a big one, I don't think it's necessarily so that a small meta will have this happen.

But it would be interesting to see how large people's Armada communities are. That would maybe make for an interesting thread.

People tend to forget (for good reason) Boba Fett's first appearance. It wasn't in Empire Strikes Back. He was significantly more dynamic in his first Star Wars appearance.

Boba Fett is a stupid poopjerk. He's a big dummy who's stupid and dumb.

I have a Boba Fett tattoo. ;)

Went to top table in 4 separate Sullust events with a CR-90, 2 AF MkIIs, and 4 B-Wings. Squadrons are fine.

However I won 2 of them with none at all Dave :)

I seem to remember placing ahead of you in one of them.

I'm trying to play with a critical mass of fighters in my latest games as Imperials. There are definite drawbacks in the way they tactically effect my fleet. That said, I haven't gone up against a really experienced player yet so I'll need to see what happens then.

My Pocket Carriers thread did pretty well. Stepped on no toes and was just a great discussion

My local group has around ten to sixteen players. Flying all ships and no squadrons, I've yet to lose a single game (talking only wave one here. I did lose at the top Sullust table, via not sure what Ackbar could do. )

I've flown against everything from Rebs with no fighters, heavy fighters, a mirror imp list to mine, etc.

Now wave two....yeah, I'm already changing my lists. Last game I flew a Rhymer ball, that while it didn't do any damage, it did kill the enemy bwings. Won via Advanced Gunnery and two front volleys off my VSD.

Can't wait for wave two.

Played a wave 2 game where the Bwings didn't technically dominate

They did however inspire such fear that the opponent mulched yavaris first

But this is why you cannot compromise your ships when you include squadrons. In addition to Yavaris and a neb escort (MM) leading keyan, Jan, and 3 Bs, Salvation with two cr90-as (turbolaser reroutes) managed to pull out the win.

Without any squadrons to contest them, the Bwings basically dominated the middle and forced bad positioning into the waiting revel ships

Turbolaser reroute is BRUTAL
