We really can't... Too much evidence on the bad, bad dialogue, writing, some bad acting - some really painfully bad scenes. No. they were bad. There were good bits, sure, but on the whole they were bad. This said, and this probably brings us back on topic. I did like the ship designs, I did like the vehicle, weapon and armour designs. I felt that all fit. I felt the TCW series went a long way into sanitizing the era, making it pretty cool. Some of my favourite Star Wars ships are prequel era (Acclamator, LAAT, ARC170). I love the look of various different clone armours (mk1 "yellow" clone pilot is a favourite). The AT-TE walker was also cool.

I won't go into the flaws of the movies, I don't feel that's what this thread is all about and frankly has it now been discussed to death since TPM was first released? I will say: Yeah, the prequel era ships, like the V-19, V-wing, Belabbub 22, LAAT, republic police gunship/imperial patrol gunship, ARC-170 Gozanti cruiser etc are awesome. Not just that, but Star Wars-y.

Funny thing is, the prequel movies actively got better with TCW. You get to know Dooku. Grievous is not just some random nobody, but actually (somewhat) threatening. At least familiar. Even Maul gets the spotlight he should have had. The Order 66 scene has become touching for me, especially the parts with Plo Koon and Ayla, where it was befor "Yeah I guess the music tells me to feel sad here...meh. Who were those guys again?" It doesn't fix the bad acting, but at least now I can suffer through that knowing there is something there for me. They did a great job with that series.

Example. ARC170 Give it 2 Rebel, 2 Scum and maybe 1 Imperial ACE card, and Imperials can get maybe a PS1 Generic reservist pilot. So that you only see one or two on a board, or you see crappy generic reserves.

For a dial, give it a neon blue dial, something neither side use - so that any side can use it.

Basically TLDR: the more ships XWM has the merrier, but PT era ships should not detract or steal focus from GCW and onwards ships. So if they are implemented, however it's done. Make them really, really niche.

I would have made the poll more specific, but Strawpoll doesn't allow much customization. The poll was really just supposed to ask about the idea of prequel ships/Clone Wars ships in general, not how they would be implemented or which specific ships would be used.

I personally would just make them like any other ships. The ARC-170 saw service alongside the Z-95 Headhunter to the point that they often flew in the same formation, so I could see it fitting into Rebel and Scum just like the Z-95 (And since Rebel and Scum are the only factions with Astromechs, this would also be the best from a gameplay perspective). So it would get Scum and Rebel pilots and a dial that indicates both Scum and Rebels. Or maybe just Rebels if giving another ship to both Scum and Rebels is too much.

I see that point. Looking at the poll, the majority of the fanbase here seems to be either for or against with few being ambivalent, and it would suck for the people who don't like prequel ships if they were facing entire squadrons of them.

I don't see any downsides to including ships from any era. I feel like the N-1 and Ebon Hawk belong in this game as much as Poe Dameron does, and welcome them all.

Nobody complains anymore about there being HWKs in this game, but at one time people swore they'd stop collecting once the original trilogy ships dried up. That doesn't seem to have hurt the game's popularity or playability at all.

Um, computers were pretty wide spread in 99, and most people who saw TPM had internet access, even if it was dialup (I do not miss he modem screaming everytime I logged on). There was so much build up for this movie that no one dared to give a really negative review of it before release. The Special editions were a very recent thing and helped build the excitement. Even after the release we all wanted to really like this movie so the actually prequel hate didn't set in until some months later and really but when Attack of the Clones was thrust upon us.

This wasn't that long ago, it shouldn't be forgotten so easily. We really wanted these movies to work, and they just didn't.

Still, I love the ships and look of those movies. There was a lot of effort to make them look different but familiar enough and I think they work well. And I'm one of those that remembers the 3 long years of eternity between Empire and Jedi and the dark times after.

Honestly I play with a legends mindset, any narrative campaign is set in shattered empire era or an era where these ships were available sooner as prototypes.

SWCCG...they learned the hard way that 'compatible' still doesn't mean 'balanced'. But 'separate but equel' just seems wrong though.

I would still like to see those ships on the table. And Tipp's game is way better than anything I could hope for, so ok.

You do understand that Decipher was forced to do Episode I content. Some of the power creep was LFL mandated, but also because they had to scramble to put the sets together, because they had to scrap their original post DSII releases.

And the seperate but compatable game is the best option. Especially since the games would be merged for the top competitive play. So, Store Championships could still choose to be OT+, rather than combined, but Regionals and up, witll be the merged game. And as Magic has proven, the top format will be the dominant format. And we will be in the same situation, with about the same amount of people buying everything and those who only buy what they want.

I was open to a separate but compatible game, even though it might strain my wallet.

But now that TFA ships are in the game...with their own core set...and it's NOT a separate game, I feel the prequels should get the same treatment.

TFA doesn't really have a ship pool to draw on as a separate game, though.
