I am more sold by the music. I am liking the combo of the old with the new style.
force awakens trailer within 2 minutes
Hope Luke is the new sith. That would be really cool - all those good intentions come to naught etc.
Snagged 7 tickets for the 7:00 pm 3D show on the 17th!
No spoilers for me. How many times I see it after that... time will tell. I am still more excited for Rogue One, but thats like saying I prefer the 12 year old single malt to the 10 year old.
My brother and I have tickets for 8:30, but I have kids to get to bed beforehand, so my opportunity for spoilers should be limited.
If I can just get through the work day beforehand without seeing any spoilers from the earlier release in the UK...
Also agree with the comments about the music, though that's not unexpected. The prequels get a lot of flack, but not generally for Williams' musical score. Sounds like the legacy will continue. ![]()
Oh hell yeah!
Loved seeing the star destroyer from Lost Stars.
Is this just me, or is this the second movie that Chewie raise his hands in surrender ![]()
Come to think of it, he has kind of always been a captive of some sort in now 4x movies ![]()

Yeah, but he's not a pilot wing man he's a 'go on the pull' wing man, because you always look good by comparison. Rumour has it that Chewie is so mentally scarred from jumping on ugly grenades for Han he can no longer talk and only makes incoherent growls.
Looks amazing. Cannot wait.
I'll be odd man out, and say that trailer was decidedly underwhelming. The X-Wing/TIE dog fight was cool, and seeing a Star Destroyer's bridge blow in was nice, but that's about it. I've seen nothing to make we want to like any of the new characters, and the galaxy JJ is trying to sell just does't make sense to me. They've got a lot of possibilities, and who knows, maybe it'll turn out good, but I'm not holding my breath. Between Indiana Jones, and Jurassic World, there's not a good track record of reviving dead, once great franchises without a total reboot.
You need more then the Falcon zooming about? Shes a character and has sold me.
The best thing about the trailer is that everything looks like the old SW we know and love. The prequels looked so clean and sterile, but this has the right vibe.
Yeah, this trailer just is giving the right "vibe" to me. The soundtrack is fantastic. The characters, despite what anyone might say about their acting, selections, all seem to be grounded in the right mythological archetypes, and that feels very correct to me. The choice to get steer away from clean/crisp CGI is apparent and gives the film a realistic gravitas that was lacking the prequels.
I approve. I'm excited :-)
It's hard to judge the new characters by the trailer, so anyone getting excited about them or promoting doom and gloom because of them really don't have much to work with. It's a JJ project, so we're simply not going to have a good idea before stepping into that theater. However, having seen Oscar Isaac in other roles, I have little doubt he will be quite good. The others are relative unknowns, so we'll have to wait and see.
Edited by TruthinessI dont know....those trailers tell you nothing, combination of action scenes and music surely shall create an emotional response. shock and awe, so to say. But like computer games, its only the story that convinces me, and that has yet to be seen. Just repetition so far of what we read and saw already in the first available Star Wars material ever. And they could not even go away from Tie Interceptors and X-wings (great archetypes, great design, dont get me wrong). But ok, maybe a long war left both sides struggling for resources (apart from surely avoiding any concession to EU).
I more and more get the feeling that I will leave the Cinema disappointed. After all, I go there for Star Wars, not just a flashy SciFi movie with all the technical possibilities of 2015. I hope there is at least one big surprise, even if it is Luke turning Sith. Unlikely, of course, cant see a major US franchise go there.
So what do I think? The force got forgotten after Luke took some self imposed exile, probably to a) guard something that should not be resurrected, or b) to watch over a child of his. Self imposed after realizing that the galaxy quickly forgot the only Jedi then in the struggle to create a New Republic, or even blamed his kind on all the troubles. Leia, for that reason, never was trained. So Han could say, as in the trailer if I got it right, yes, the Jedi existed, its all true.
I don't understand what people mean by saying that the trailers are giving nothing away. . .
That trailers have such a swath of information in them it's hard to go through it all.
I think it looks like star wars, sounds like star wars, feels like star wars.
Pretty sure it's star wars.
Desert girl longs to leave her boring scavenging life.
Meets refugee from space battle with vital information about the enemy.
New friends meet Han and Chewie and fly away towards danger.
Rendezvous at secret base.
Big battle to destroy the new technological terror.
New friends get medals pinned on them.
Triumphant Star Wars theme/Roll credits.
The way you formulate, it sounds eerily familiar....I will think about it a bit more ![]()
Well...
Cute droid sidekick but totally not R2-D2.
Desert planet but totally not Tatooine.
Ice Planet but totally not Hoth.
Planetoid sized super-weapon but totally not a Death Star.
Masked villain all in black with red lightsaber but totally not Darth Vader.
Totally TIE fighters and X-wings.
Anybody care to take a shot at the callbacks and nostalgia this movie will be replete with?
Will Han shoot first in the very first scene of the movie to show us this isn't a prequel special edition fake Star Wars or will they be able to hold that back for a whole ten or fifteen minutes?

With a wink, but not disrespectful towards you, I could say that all I see in the trailer I know from the cast list, the movie poster and the new lego sets ![]()
