Wave One 400pt Rebel Build - "Bomber Command"

By Captain Weather, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Have a 400 point tournament coming up this weekend, was thinking of running this as my list -

Assault Frigate Mk II B - 109pts

- Mon Mothma

- ECM

Assault Frigate Mk II B - 89pts

- Expanded Hangar Bay

- ECM

- Paragon

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - 69pts

- Raymus Antilles

- Yavaris

Wedge Antilles - 19pts

3x X-Wings - 39pts

3x B-Wings - 42pts

3x Y-Wings - 30pts

Objectives:

Advanced Gunnery

Hyperspace Assault

Superior Positions or Intel Sweep

Basic plan is to take advantage of anti-squadron vibe and have three effective bomber carriers. With Wedge and 3 X-Wings I also have enough AA (the B's and Y's also being solid-ish) to take out all but the most dedicated fighter wings.

Advanced Gunnery is something of a sneaky objective, Paragon able to shoot from its side twice at the same hull zone is brutal. I've had it demolish a full shield and full health Motti VSD in two turns.

Hyperspace Assault is fairly obvious, Yavaris jumps with 3 B-Wings to really, really ruin someone's day on the other end.

Can't decide between Superior Positions and Intel Sweep. I feel if I take Superior Positions most players will be inclined to take it, however with this many squadrons I can really rack up some points. Intel sweep on the other hand forces my opponent into a situation where they have to take on the swarm or give up 75pts.

Thoughts?

I like the list I would be interested to see how it plays out. being able to swarm is nice. biggest issue I see for the fighters is catching their targets. especially if they can get Yavaris dead.

Im also really interested in this list, Ill probably give it a try soon. Ive been interested in using more bombers in a list. Plus Y-wings are my favorite fighter on the rebels so would be great to use them.

I recently just played a 250 point game with two Y-Wings and similar Neb B. Only used Tallon instead of Antilles. They did a lot of damage to a GSD without taking much. I had Tyco running cover for them.

I know Wedge throws out some serious dice for anti-squadron, but I'd rather have Luke (especially with Yavaris).

Superior Positions and Intel Sweep both look like good options.

These days I lean towards Superior Positions when I've got access to squadrons, but that's more with an Imperial list where the squads have better speed to get behind ships. Rebel squads should still be able to get round them enough to make use of it, even the B-Wings can be set up to get a shot or two into rear arcs each over the course of the game.

Intel Sweep would be a good way of focussing the fight onto the central objective giving your B-Wings an obvious point to set up in ambush. With Mon Mothma you can handle taking the fight up close so that's still not a bad option.

Still, in balance I think I like Superior Positions. Against all-ship or ship-heavy lists you have the advantage with your squads, and even if they do run heavy squadrons you're likely to end up engaged with their squads at which point Yavaris can help you sweep through them pretty quickly using your X-Wings.
