First Space fight session

My Face to Face game has grown a bit over the last few months (First we only play once a month at most. The group original started at 5 players) we are now at a group of 7 players. * would be my max, but I had to bring my folding table to the Hosts home today as their table isn't big enough with the two additional players now.

It was one of the Players First session in both this game and in RPGS period... the other new player it is his 2nd session but first combat session.

All but My wife are, though, in general, New to gaming. And appears they are all loving it (Were all adults ranging from 20 to 43 in age)

The group gained themselves an additional Obligation they aren't aware of yet. And they bought a ship from the person they have that obligation to.

They were set up basically. The ship was rigged to drop out of Hyperspace at a certain destination point. (they were hauling freight for the person that owned the used Ship dealer they bought the ship from and Who they Gained this obligation with). Some Shipjacker space pirates had set up an ambush be taking out another freighter that they caught in the same area (it had the New players character and a NPC on it as the only survivors.)

When the Pcs got dropped out of Hyperspace early, They picked up the emergency Com call that the new player set up trying to find help as he and the NPC felt they had been left for dead Locked in the Cockpit of the Now inoperable sip.

The pcs conferanced about the S.o.s. call but eventually came to the decision that they would try to rescue the Stranded people on the ship and then maybe salvage the ship or what ever they could.

They docked with the other ship and had 3 of their crew board it while one manned the Pilot seat of their ship and 2 guys jumped into the Top and Bottom gunner stations to watch for trouble.

The 3 on the other ship headed straight for the Cockpit passing up many closed hatches. (where 3 pirates were hiding to ambush.) The first hatch after entering the ship had been rigged with a trip alarm to warn the ones on board.

There were two fighters and a Freighter waiting on the far side of a moon listening to the come chatter, which is how they Knew when their ship took the bait as they communicated with the derelict ship. They Started out once they got confirmation they had docked.

There was a cross corridor on the way to the cockpit that after the 3 passed through, One of the pirates rushed the hatch, closed, and locked it behind them. Why two other pirates were Boarding their Ship through the airlocks, which the Pcs conveniently hadn't locked behind them.

Now this is where things went south for my pirates.

The Pilot of their ship turned as one of the pirates drew gun on her so she Pulled the Override Docking release...This turned out both good and bad for her.

#1 the two pirates got pulled out into space, But (threats) she hadn't buckled herself into the pilots seat, and failed to grab hold of anything and got pulled towards the open airlock as well...Also, the pirate that had Sealed the other three in the other ship was being pulled towards the open airlock as well, but managed to grab a hatch doorway.

#2 the force of Breaking the airlock damaged the airlock on the other ship. So when the New players character got a decompression warning in the cockpit, and tried to overide the Airlock closed.. It Partially, mostly, closed but had a system failure with a crack open still Sucking air out.

the PC pilot managed to be saved by luck going out the airlock as a loose strap caught her leg Unfortunately she was just outside the airlock already, Fortunately she was a droid, so didn't die.

The Pirate holding on for dear life lost his grip and got sucked up against the mostly closed airlock and then sucked out like sucking jello through a straw.

The New PC managed to get an Override to close aff all other hatches on the ship to spare what little life support and power they had left, Now only 10 minutes worth do to the airlock systems failure.

At this point the three pirate ships arrive and start calling for surrender.

The Droid manages to start pulling herself back into the ship since the area she decompressed was small and was now empty of air.

The 2 in the gunner stations are freaked out cause the ship is now free floating in space as enemy ships have arrived and are threatening to fire.

Once says "screw it" and opens up on the Pirates Incoma Slueth ship Blowing it wide open. 1 ship down.

The 3 rescuer Pcs on the other ship have split up.. 1 heading to the cockpit to see if he can get the New pc and the NPC out while the other two try to figure out how to get the jammed hatch open. They opt for setting a Frag grenade on it to blow it open.

Meanwhile the Pirate G9 Rigger and the Preybird fighter are attacking the ship and get in some good hits on the PCs newly acquired ship.

The gunners Only managed to score 1 Hit and that of the freight which took the hit okay.

The Improve Demolitions goes off blowing a narrow opening in the Hatch... will require coordination checks to squeeze through at 3 Difficulty

The Guy rescueuing the New PC and NPC manages to Unlatch the mechanics in the jammed door there and get it open.

The PCs ship gets hit again, but no crits and the ship could still take another shot or two.. But the Gunners Pushed their Chances by spending Sidelight points(I had already been spending darkside on them a been encouraging them to use theirs... and they started to finally do it. ), One hit was from the recovered pilot launching a Concussion missile.

They hit the Freighter Hard (still no crits) and the Captian chooses to flee with his 3 remaining Hull between his legs...

The Preybird Follows suit after his captain.

The Pilot re-docks with the Derelict ship... But requires a Mechanics check to get a seal with the other ships damaged docking ring.

They recover their boarding crew plus 2 rescuees. and then try to undock.... They can't seem to get undocked from the other ship... Another Mechanics check with Threats, They manage to get free but only by damaging their own docking ring.

But hey, Everyone survived.... and everyone had a blast....

Said they thought they were goners when their pilot got sucked out the airlock just as the Pirates ships arrived to attack and they were surprised no one died.

Nice, I always enjoy playing with very new players, it's fun to see them realise they can do anything.
