i am currently thinking about buying this game, but i was just wondering if anyone can tell me a little more about how it is played? i can't seem to find anything on it on the computer. thanks
thinking about buying
Hi,
Firstly, have you seen the video in the Tannhauser (obviousy!) part of the FFG site? If not, go and give it a look - it explains the pathfinder system of the game quite nicely (no complex Line Of Sight rules here!). Players roll for initiative, with the winner moving a character first, then playersd alternate until all characters have been moved. Each character has 2 phases to their turn, movement and Action. The Action phase cannot be split, but can take place anywhere within the movement - move 3, then take the Action, then resume moving up to the amount which the character currently has. It's a bit like a First Person Shooter boardgame (say DOOM or perhaps FRAG etc.)
There's a great rules summary here:-

hi again, wow that is a big coincidense. whats the chances! SERIOUSLY!!!
Anyway thank you! i think this game looks pretty sweet i think i might pick it up after i pick up arkham.
yea you wont regret it, they both play very different obviously but are great games with a wealth of extras available
Thanks for the positive review. I may buy into this game too.
You guys may want to wait and see what changes FFG has in store...
well there arent going to be any major changes so they say, just a few rule enhancements

Actually, judging by the most recent news post about Tann, it sounds to me like they are making some pretty sweeping changes. They said they're keeping the Path Finder mechanic and will be ensuring the new rules allow you to use all existing components, but beyond that I got the impression it was anyone's guess. The fact that they're offering a printed version of the revised rules through the webstore is, to me at least, a pretty big flag that stuff will be different and you will probably want an updated reference when playing.
yea true, but i have just updated a rule set for a game i have a lot to do with, and its bascally just that a clean up and re print, well i guess we will see soon eh
ill wait, but this sounds like a good one to have in the game room.

It is loads of fun, but one thing to be wary of is that it is essentially a 2 player game (the expansion might make it 3 player-able, but I don't have that.) The box claims it is 2-10 players, but a 10 player game is two 5 man teams with each player controlling one character, as opposed to a 2 player game where each controls 5 characters. Definitely works better at the 2 player level is what I'm saying, especially considering how easy it is to turn one character into a fine red mist in a given turn.
really dont see the point in waiting, the game will be the same, if really needed the new rules will be a download any way
