Interest check: Knight Level "Clone Wars" forum RP

By Rakaydos, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I found a way to meet your requirements for knighthood without sacrificing too much of the character I want to make.

Cerean Protector/Soresu Defender

Rakaydos - do you want us to submit only one character for consideration?

Lets keep this managable- 1 Knight, and 1 apprentice, clone, droid or pathetic lifeform.

That's the fun of playing a clone trooper. You get to run around with the nice armor and big guns and explosives. It's your job!

Not to mention I get to gun down all you pathetic Jedi traitors about three years down the line...

But yeah! Guns!

Do you want me to make a Jedi too? Because I like Hotshot. He's uncomplicated.

you dont have to.

Sounds good. I'll mull over if I want to submit a different Knight character and I might roll up a clone.

Cool. Just checking. I'll go back to Cloning it up. Backstory now available (ignore the picture, it's the closest I could find!): http://swsheets.com/c/92kcorhsz-ct-9525--hotsho

I'll post the two submissions soon, once I've had time to think about backstory and other things missing at the moment. The hard bit will be choosing which two submissions to select :)

Have you checked out the Talisman of Iron Fists?

It's a "lightsaber" equivilant for unarmed monks.

I worked under the assumption that you could grant it to the PC instead of the lighsaber. It's actually on the equipment section, and mentioned in the background story.

If you won't, it's ok.

Ah, cool.

Not sure why you went doctor then- the Talisman gives you the big thing out of doctor that a marauder wants. (the ability to ignore soak) At least, it does if you have a Force rating, which it doesnt look like your marauder picked up.

And as a non-jedi you might be interested in picking up powers like Seek, that arnt normally associated with the jedi order.

Pressure Point = Ignore Soak (ALL soak), +Medicine Rank to Damage (though turns it into Stun).

Amulet = Piercing X (X=FR) so mostly I'll get Piercing 1 or 2.

The best about the Amulet is that it gives the Cortosis trait to attacks and armour.

But as I state in there, fighting mostly against droids will balance it out.

And no, I didn't pick any FR yet. It's part of the story to get there.

Huh, I stand corrected. I thought I remembered cortosis quality granting breach.

Oh well, at least it prevents you from losing an arm. :P

Would be nicer if it prevented me from losing my keyring :P

Repeated from PM for other interested players:

I can play what ever you need for the party if others have a preference. I would prefer to play a padawan assigned to another character since I've not played a character with many force powers and would prefer to "ease into it". In fact I mostly GM Star Wars so playing will be a nice change of pace for me, even if it is online!

I had some spare time and threw together two very rough character ideas. One is far more traditional jedi, a Cerean Guardian Soresu Defender/Protector who focuses on lightsaber combat and keeping his friends alive: http://swsheets.com/c/vyuhp1qy8-inarr-modi-dali

The other is a bit more "out there". You might hate the idea or love it. Just let me know, I don't want to play a character the GM is not too fond of. This is a Toydarian Consular Sage/Soresu Defender who is a good knowledge-character and a very decent face for the group if needed: http://swsheets.com/c/syc2il8ng-notou

EDIT: If needed the Toydarian can be changed a bit to be just about Knight-level by dropping the Soresu Defender for the (more traditional) Niman Disciple and stripping off extra points spent on skils. He lacks Enhance (but with hover that should be less important for him) and has only one rank in Lightsaber (but 4 ability dice so he should be quite decent): http://swsheets.com/c/txk3solqz-notou-dumana

Which of your Jedi concepts are you going to "submit"? You also submitted a Seer/Ataru Striker that is similar in build to a character I was considering and if you want to "submit" the Seer/Ataru then I won't bother considering it.

I think the Seer/Ataru is the first straight-up offensive combat Jedi character suggested so far (the various Soresu characters are good combat characters but with more of a defensive style) so that is a niche that may not be filled yet.

But maybe with two Clone troopers the pure offensive niche is already well covered?

Thanks for asking, but please don't let what I do influence you too much. After all, we don't know what players or character concepts our GM wants.

I am almost certain that I will submit a Toydarian apprentice (certainly since there is a very nice knight-submission for a cerean guardian similar to what I had posted at the apprentice-level) and the Seer/Ataru Striker Knight, but I probably won't have time to finish them off properly until tomorrow.

A Toydarian Jedi might be fun.

I think I've got pure combat down to a t with Hotshot, though I've also got some skill in Leadership for rallying the troops.

It certainly is different. Perhaps not to everybody's tastes, but I'm sort of growing to like the little bugger. And the rest of the submissions are rather light on the social skills. It depends on the plan for the game if he can work or not. If the plan is for a lot of hardship and constant war/combat then there are better characters to bring. If the plan is for a mix with social situations (like the CW animated series) he could be a valuable team mate.

So long as it's a mix of social situations from early in the series, or else we might as well all just be good at solving crimes, talking to people and have Rank 5 in Awkwardly Foreshadow.

Question is, do his Jedi Mind tricks work, or is the Toydarian blocking a two-way thing?

Interesting question. Short answer is that I have no idea. Perhaps it works because there is nothing to say that it doesn't. Perhaps in return jedi mind-tricks work on the toydarian since he's opened up the gates, so to speak. In the end it's for the GM to decide, if he chooses this character at all.

K, throwing my lekku in the ring! Here's my Jedi Knight, Tabithia Lecala.

That's a powerful Jedi, though I think that the Force powers seem a little weak without the upgrades. Also, just wondering, how does being a Light Side Paragon with Dark Side powers work narratively?

Hmm... Interesting. Maybe a Human Consular (Niman Disciple). I will see if something strikes my fancy considering the character creation rules. Padawan or Knight? Probably the latter.

Hmmm....I might roll up an Ataru apprentice then. Not directly competing with yours (though still competing to a degree since it seems likely that picking one would exclude the other since the builds will be fairly similar).
