New Force Awakens Movie poster is up

By halfyank, in X-Wing

I don't think Isis will be in this movie. 70s superhero shows don't tend to make a comeback despite how awesome they were.

Oh, you mean... Never mind. I won't even mention the Egyptian goddess then either.

Why isn't Luke in the poster? Why is he a shrouded figure in the trailer? Is he different now? Is he now more machine than man? Is he wearing clown make-up to confuse the whole Kylo Ren situation?

this is not something people should be calm over

Yes, it is.

It's just a movie, you should really just ****ing relax.

What? You didn't come on this thread to argue about whether a movie no one has seen yet is good or not?

no one has seen yet is

No one has seen yetis

Yetis in Force Awakened confirmed!

It makes sense too. Endor was a forest moon and had teddy bears. Kashyyyk is an extreme forest world and had giant wookiees. Even Hoth had it's abominable wompa. We see in the new teasers they're on another forest world, so of course the local yeti population needs to be included onscreen.

Yes but not generally to make footage look more exciting than it is, it's dishonest.

I can't even comprehend why you'd say that. That's the point of special effects, in fact before the advent of computer graphics directors and cinematographers rely heavily on camera tricks to make shots more exciting and they still do.

I'm not even talking about special effects.

I'm talking about taking a finished scene then altering it to misrepresent when you will see in the theatrical release.

False advertising.

It is interesting that you are assuming it was a finished scene. I'm not even certain that it was going to make it into the movie.

OOH no! Don't drag me into this.

Anyway, so what is that giant ball thing? A new Death Star? If it is I'll be surprised they went back to a Death Star problem again...those **** remnants of the Empire can't come up with new ideas...

Yeah... Early Trailers often show scenes that get modified or cut. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

Starkiller Base. And I'm betting it's much more than just a 'death star'. That weapon might fire faster-than-light blasts that take out whole star systems from across the galaxy.

Or it might fire flaming yetis from the native population. Nobody knows.

It is interesting that you are assuming it was a finished scene.

Lets face it... He'll assume anything needed to pan the new stuff every chance he gets.

On a side note, please refer to Stephen Colbert's analysis of Kylo Ren's light saber for how the 'cross bar' actually functions.

Again patently false I've been positive over the T-70 and special forces tie cog.

My scepticism centres around jj's ability to deliver something he's never done before a great movie.

So uh... Is this gonna be a 3d movie then? Also... What's up with the Han had a black kid rumour?

Is this true or... ??

I'm just gonna put it out there that it's a real cop-out to shoehorn in something like that. If I were an actor I would demand script writers make an actual effort to write diverse ethnic characters or I wouldn't play the roles. I mean, it kinda feels like we're adding things for the sake of appearances here.

Lando Calrissian has a sister.

Han is a rogue.

We know how this plays out.

Hey, as long as the character is a real person and not just a thrown bone.

That, more than anything else bothers me. Like, if you can't represent cultural diversity properly, then just don't try. Its far worse to marginalized in film than ignored altogether. That's all I want to say about the subject.

I'll bet Landos sister was smoking hot too...

It's a rumor that Finn is Han's son. There are a lot of rumors, fake or real, that circulate before a Star Wars movie's release.

John Boyega's character Finn is one of the main protagonists (Alongside Daisy Ridley's character Rey). Their last names are deliberately being withheld, presumably because Abrams wants to keep us in the dark about their parentage. Whatever is the case, it's ridiculous to complain the main character of a movie that hasn't even come out didn't have effort put into writing him.

Also, <insert Mark Hamill being the son of James Earl Jones joke>

Hey, as long as the character is a real person and not just a thrown bone.

Again, Finn's one of the two main protagonists. He has a clear arc as a disillusioned Stormtrooper and is even the only good character shown using a lightsaber in the marketing. He is not a "token" character.

And that's where he failed (maybe). See, if he had kept back Poe's last name, too, we would be in the dark about all 3 and wonder who was whose son/daughter. Now it's down to 2 and there's less uncertainty. (Though uncertainty is still to be had, I suppose.)

I hope just to mess with people, the name withheld is "Bridger"

Actually, the Star Wars comic from Marvel currently has a storyline involving a black character who insists she's Han Solo's wife.

Ok so you'll assume anything you need to pan JJ any chance you get.

You sound prejudiced by your derogatory appelation of the director. Jar Jar Abrams as you put it. You are seeing him and his work in a negative light, prejudging the film. You say it is going to suck. So, unless you have seem more than anyone else, you ARE posting in a very prejudical slant.

Are we supposed to believe that a director who has consistently made mediocre films is suddenly going to make a good one?

Are we supposed to pretend he has no history?

Uh, I really liked Trek '09. It's my #1 Favorite.Aside from The Empire Strikes Back. That one has a special place above any and all ratings.

Really!?!

Star Trek Insurrection..... Gah

By fa the worst of the TNG films and probably the worst Star Trek of them all

Not counting JJ Trek 1 & 2 as that's not really star Trek

I find it funny that EVERYONE seems to think Finn is Han's kid. If Han and Sana Solo had a kid, it would not be force sensitive. Now if Han and Leia did, that's a different story. (Unless there is something about Sana we don't know yet.) Furthermore, Luke seems to be talking to a member of his own family in Teaser #1. Could he not be talking to his own son or daughter?!? Why is no one talking about Rey or Finn possibly being a Skywalker? Honestly, I feel Luke should have a son or daughter. This is a Skywalker story. It should continue with a Skywalker.

That there is correct sir, he has earnt my hatred through his many transgressions.

I've been reading the Star Wars comics ever since Sana Solo showed up and so far it's a he said she said situation. Han repeated denies ever being married to her while Sana seems to be hiding something or just outright lying just to throw him off. She even claims that her ship, the Volt Cobra is fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy instead of the Millennium Falcon. As far as I can tell Han wasn't lying about his relationship with Sana so I'm inclined to think the rumor that Finn might be Han's son is false.

Oh, I don't think Finn is Sana's kid; the timing is off, for one thing, and all accounts in the comic are that Han is a most unwilling participant in this particular marriage, if it actually even exists.
