What's on Lothal?

By whafrog, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

In the Siege of Lothal, the fated-to-die minister is set to reveal the "real" reason behind the Empire's interest in Lothal. Hopefully this is addressed or answered in season 2, but in the meanwhile...

Speculation: the kyber crystal that ends up in the Death Star.

It produces the Emperor's favorite tea.

Great burger place on the the corner of 1st and 12th...

Speculation: the kyber crystal that ends up in the Death Star.

I just finished reading Lost Stars and they do mention that at the heart of the Super Laser is a giant kyber crystal.

So thats a good guess, I can second this.

PS. The book was pretty good, still a young adult novel and primarily a love story but an interesting take on the Imperials side of the events shown in the original trilogy. Plus now I know why the Star Destroyer is crashed on the planet...

Mind sparing us the trouble, and letting us know why it's crashed?

The Imperial captain (a main character) scuttles the ship to prevent New Republic infiltrators (led by another main character) from capturing it

Wait, I'm sorry, but are we mixing Lothal (Rebels) with Jakku (TFA)?

And now we also know what was at the core of the ancient Jedi temple there.

I feel like the kyber crystal will be from the temple Ezra gets his one from.

No, they're referencing a book that they said could contain clues as to what's on Lothal, but the event they're talking about is the crashing star destroyer on Jakku.

Okay, seriously: Lost Stars is a classic love story about two people from the "opposite side of the tracks" who fall for each other while in the Imperial academy. It starts just post-Order 66. After the first death star is blown up (with great insight into how that was perceived by Imperials), one starts having doubts about the Empire while the other sort of buckles down and recommits, so they end up on opposite sides. The tale eventually winds past Endor to the battle of Jakku where the stalwart decides they can't allow the Rebels to capture an SD, and decides to crash it instead. The love interest is on the SD-capture team, becomes aware of who the captain is, which leads to a climactic scene with the two of them on the bridge of the careening SD.

So like Titanic but with less nude drawing and more lasers?

Thank you whafrog :)

But the reason I mentioned it was just a side note, it has nothing to do Lothal, however in the novel one of the characters mentions that the Super Laser on the DS was focused through a giant kyber crystal.

Yes, and that's been hinted at in the unfinished TCW episodes, where they wonder what the crystal is for and note its energy enhancing properties; then in Rebels season 1 they take out a transport carrying another noting that the Empire can't do "anything good" with it. Plus there were some rumours that Rebels will resolve with the team that provides the technical readout of the first Death Star... so, there seems to be a theme.

Well, there does seem to be an abundant supply of Loth-cats

Maybe the Emperor is just as much a fan of cute kitties as the internet, and needs a large stock of the felines so that he's always got some around no matter where in the galaxy he goes :D

The speculation of Lothal having a stockpile of Kyber crystals is a pretty old one, pre-dating the reveal of the Lothal temple. Old enough that part of the fanbase would actually be disappointed if the "secret resource" really was giant Kyber crystals for the Death Star.

....maybe there's a way to turn loth-cats into kyber crystals? You know, like smurfs and gold....

Or there's an unspoken correlation between Loth-cats and Lothal-based kyber crystals that goes unspoken for a reason?

Sort of like most Fremen didn't really talk about how the worms of Arrakis and the spice melange were connected...

Ah... so the reason Ezra is all good at Force Dr. Doolittle is because his lightsaber crystal gives him a free upgrade on the check!

Sure, we'll go with that :D

I kinda feel like there are six giant kyber crystals in the Deathstar. Maybe there's one on Lothal, sure. I like that idea.

How can one be truly evil with out a feline to stroke in your lap...Imagine how much better things would have gone with luke and Vader if Palpatine had used the proper stroking of a feline in the throne room....

James Bond might contest that idea! ;)

Oh but I wouldn't mind an Agent of the Empire series oh right unlikely to have a tv series and Dark Horse did the comic so any chance FFG might do a supplement on that idea? :)
