Concentrate Fire Command dial & Token

By Kiwi Rat, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I had my first massing of Sullust games today.

In one game I had the Concentrate fire token in the beginning of the game which I kept for later, in the fourth round I revealed a Concentrate Fire command dial.

I had the oppotunity to attack the same ship twice, once from my forward arc and second from my side arc.

Can I use the Concentrate Fire command dial on my forward arc, and then the Concentrate Fire token on my side arc?

(My opponent said I couldn't and refered to a FAQ section of the rule reference)

Or must I use both on the same arc?

Note! As It transpired I hit with every dice i used with my forward arc, so I had no need to re-roll (use the token) in the first place, but does that mean i can't use it on my side arc?

A puzzled Kiwi Rat

You must use them both on the same Attack if you are using them both, as you can only resolve One Concentrate fire command at a time.

To have one on one attack, and then one on the other, would be Two Issuings of the Concentrate Fire Command.

Furthermore , if you declare your Concentrate Fire command will use Both the Token and the Dial , and you do not use the Reroll , well, that just kinda sucks, as that Reroll is Burned, used or not.... Just the same as a Squadron Command Dial is burned if you have no Squadrons in Range.

Indeed. Any given command type can only be resolved once per activation. So you can't resolve the dial-level CF command in one attack and the token-level CF command in another. It's gotta be both in the same attack - and the moment you declare you're using one effect (dial or token) you must declare whether or not you're also using the other.

Okay I get the picture, thanks for making it clear to me. ;)

hmm ok we have been using them in the same ship activation but using CF cmd dial on attack 1 and CF cmd token on attack 2 :( . but i could do this right?

1. roll my attack pool for said attack

2. decide if i want to use my CF command TOKEN (that i got from a previous round) to re-roll one of the initial die from the original attack pool.

2. choose to use CF command DIAL to add extra die for this attack

3. roll the extra die

4. then, if i didn't use my CF command TOKEN in step 2, I could decide to use the CF command TOKEN to re-roll the CF command DIAL extra die roll

5. lastly, on my second attack i could NOT use EITHER CF cmd (dial or token) if i had used either on my first attack

just trying to get this understanding as this is going to cause ripples in our local gaming community as most of us were not doing it this way.

No. Absolutely not.

You roll your dice.

Then decide to spend the dial and/or token. This is important: you must decide beforehand and you must make your choice clear. And yes, this could lead to some wasteful uses, but that's part of the rules.

Now you can proceed to add a dice and/or re-roll in any order.

And no, you can't go token on one shot and dial on the other. Only one one instance of shooting.
